    02. I see why others could find them to be good guilty pleasure films.
    03. I too love a good pendulum, and this is a good one.
    04. I wanted his hands to be crushed to the point where his skin broke at the wrists and he was left with flailing bloody nubs as the pendulum severed him in half and his intestines where left swinging on the blade like the ones on John Rambo’s knife.
    05. It looks better than the shit that Eli Roth makes. He is worthless. He should stick to being a second slate actor in Tarantino movies. That way we get to see his character die film after film.

  5. Saw is just the lowest common denominator.

    They couldn’t write a decent horror/chiller flick so they add in as much violence and unnecessary torture as they can instead.

    Compared to movies like Halloween, or the Blair Witch Project it is complete trash.

    I watched the first one… I got bored during the second and didn’t see the third.

    If they actually wrote good movies to go along with their torture porn then I’d see them but since there is no logical story to them I’ll just pass.

  6. Same here I am not much of a toture porn, but i do love Psycho movies as in THE CELL or so on…

    But something about, few bunch of teenagers dying is apparently now an entertainment….

    Okay fine Rated R has it but at least its not about just them dying….
    You guys say Toture Porn, that’s actually a good name!

    I would’ve called it Doucmentry of how humans treat humans !

    And i seriously hope they ban this movie !

  7. hahaha..ok…either I am dense, or I couldn’t see very well on that link….OR…it’s not as good as I thought it was then ;) Surely if your hands are being crushed you can’t press a button at the same time!

    it didn crush his hands, he couldn stand the pain and that’s why he didn get released, he didn press the buttons long enough, it shows you don’t watch them ;-) the character SAW does always leave ways to escape in whatever traps he does in the movies.

  9. I think i should invest some money in this Saw franchise, because it doesn’t look like it’s going to let up any time soon… :(

    Still haven’t watched any more than the first installation (which might I add was complete and utter pants).

    this didn’t look half bad – however, I don’t think that machine crushed his hands!!

  12. That clip wasn’t half bad. However, with this being under the helm of a first-time director (David Hackl, who was the Production Designer of Saw’s 2-4), I am a bit worried for this film. Then again, the first Saw was also done by a “new” director, as was the second film. That said, I would like this series to wrap up pretty soon.

    In my opinion, the series has yet to enter the realm of “God awful bullshit!”, though I was not much a fan of the third one at all. As I think John said in his review a couple years back, “There was no sense of actual terror.” This was also the case with Saw IV, though I found the basic story to be much better than that of Saw III. So, I guess we’ll just see where this goes. ;)

    I’ve been reading your personal blog John and you guys have really interesting lives and I find it cool how they’re documented online (to a degree only I’m sure) but dunno how you find the time for EVERYTHING man.

    Aslong as you keep up the good work John and keep themovieblog running with all you guys, especially the hilarious Doug I’ll be happy. Think you’ve earned all the success that you get in life.

  15. it’s sorta become tradition for me n my girl to go see the saw movies, ok it’s torture porn but you could do A LOT worse i’m sure you’ll agree John, not Doug ;-)

    as sequels go they do follow the general rule of getting worse as they go on but after gritting my teeth through DISASTER MOVIE
