Dwayne Johnson Set To Star In Tomorrowland

Rock-1Disney is looking to make Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson the star of its next theme ride film Tomorrowland. We get the scoop from out friends at movieweb:

According to Variety, the studio has set scribes Jon Lucas and Scott Moore to draft an epic-sized action adventure set in space. The film is being designed as a vehicle for Johnson, who starred for the studio in family hit The Game Plan and most recently completed Race to Witch Mountain.

Disney denies the film has been titled “Tomorrowland” or is dedicated to the park’s section, a futuristic area of the Magic Kingdom that includes such attractions as Space Mountain. The studio called the nascent project an original script.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean ride was a successful money making adaptation for Disney, it appears they are hoping for more of the same in Tomorrowland.

I’ m not sure we can guess what the plot of the film will be at this point. I haven’t been on the ride – but if any of you have, please let us know what it’s like. I’m not sure that the ride itself will reveal much in way of story, but we may be able to get a sense of the film’ s flavor.

We will be sure to keep you updated of the film’s developments and will shoot you info about the story when we have a chance.

  1. Even though he’s doing Disney movies, he has alot more time for a family now than he did when he was working for WWE, you got to respect everyones personal life too, not just from the way you would want other people to do things. He’s also making a hell of alot more money, and getting alot less bruised up. He’s pretty much his own boss now, alot better than saying yes sir to Vince M.

  2. I am getting so ashamed of this man. He’s still at the top of my to-do list, but his movie career is such a joke now. WWE ain’t paradise by any means, but he left WWE to do a bunch of kiddie flicks? He had a good thing going there. Why bother trying to be an actor if this is all that Hollywood thinks that you are good for. I’d stay home and spend my endless amounts of money before I was turned into Disney’s new bitch.

  3. 790,

The Tat is a history of his family. Every symbol represents a specific aspect of that history. Getting such a tattoo is a celebration of his Polynesian heritage and a Samoan tradition.

  4. Well, Doug, the Tomorrowland at Disney in Florida, is what it sounds like. It’s the land of tomorrow. The only two rides I remember are Space Mountain and a cool “rocket” ride that would go around and you could control how high it went, much like some rides at a fair. Its been about 10 years since I’ve been there, but I would bet those two rides are still there, especially Space Mountain.

And I agree with Scott, go to find out! :)
