  1. Hey Gene,

As I said in the discussion, my main problem with Pineapple Express is that it’s a comedy and it didn’t make me laugh. It just wasn’t funny.

Yes, it was better than Drillbit Taylor

I think Wilson can be a very solid actor (The Darjeeling Limited, The Royal Tenenbaums, Wedding Crashers)

  2. Sorry about my post above. My enter button sticks.

John, what exactly were your main gripes with pineapple express. Another question do you think it was an improvment over the tripe drillbit talor, also do you like owen wilson as an actor.

  3. Damn you Kristopher, now I feel like an asshole. It wasn’t you as much as it was the topics of discussion. The Vicky Christina Barcelona talk was what bored me, but it picked up after that. I apologize for the rude comment.

  4. Kristopher you were great. Come back anytime. Well as much as campea will allow you.

Look I love doug but I it was nice to have someone on the show who didn’t say “the film would have been great if it was shorter”

  5. Freeman: Doug will be back on Monday. I can’t compete. Guilty. He’s an unstoppable force.

Padthai (great username, by the way): I can’t exactly say the King Tut/Egg Head joke is the most original thing in the world, since I’ve probably heard it a thousand times since 1989. But I CAN say I steer clear of 90% of anything associated with Kevin Smith, so I’m not guilty of jacking that one from him.

Next time I guess I’ll have to take it to the next level to avoid the association. Lord Marmaduke Ffogg, perhaps. Or Louie the Lilac.

Thanks for the props guys. I’ll be out of your hair Monday and Doug will be back in all his glory. Thanks again to John for having me.

  6. Hey Scotty,

Actually… the camera is supposed to follow me and cut to wherever I’m looking. We don’t have lights on the cameras showing which one is active, and our monitor is on a 10 second delay… so the editor in the back does his best to cut to whichever camera I decide to look at.

It’s not perfect, but I think he does a pretty good job.

  7. John when you going to get used to the close-up shots when your camera cuts away and does your close-up ….you miss it everytime! ;) Me and my mates have started taking bets to see if your ever gonna get it right !

Love the site + shows BTW

  8. I think that as a rule, Doug should Barbarian Tit Movie flashcards for any guests while he is on vacation. Because seriously, that’s what the movie blog is all about right?

  9. i think bale said that the voice was because he didnt feel serious wearing the coustome & the voice was a way to make him feel more serious about it.

the stupid part is that, as batman, he’ll still talk to rachel in the batman voice even though she knows who she is

  10. First off, where is the friday (8/1) show? I tried looking at livevideo.com/uncut and I can’t find it.

    – Kris, at first glance why so serious?

    – Thought Pineapple Express is the best comedy so far this year. A 8/10 for me.

    – I know a lot of people hate Batman’s voice but the true reason why his voice sucks so much is that Rich King, the sound designer, and Chris Nolan wanted Batman to have a deeper voice than usual so they used Bale’s original voice and increased the bass and compressed the dynamic range. If you want to hear what Bale’s Batman sounds like without all the sweetening, listen to his Batman voice in Batman Begins. It’s there in all it’s undiluted glory.

    – Once again, great show John. If only you could have Doug and Kris in the same room.

  11. pineapple was cool

but the trailers made it look more like a comedy/funny than what it was
& it didnt feel like a judd apatow movie

but still way better than drillbit & walk hard

  12. That was a great show. Kris is really articulate and was refreshing. Don’t misunderstand me, Doug rules, but having a guy a little more analytical and knowledgeable about film was a nice change up.

Good job John. You seem to be able to feed to the strengths of whoever your co-host is. The DSC people were a nice touch too.
