  1. Sorry for double posting,
    two more things:

1)The success of the Passion, I think, rests largely on it being Jesus plus a 25 mil production budget and a 10 mil advertising campaign. Not to detract from the movie, but I think there was a built in audience. Just to level the playing field I’m a giant Star Wars fan and Ep 1-3 all made money they just shouldn’t have because of a built in audience. Seriously, no offense to Christ lovers because I love Darth Vader and he isn’t (is) real.

2)Apocalypto didn’t make nearly as much money as The Passion and made 10 million less than Lethal Weapon Uno (the least highest grossing of the bunch). And although I adore Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (I made it my first Blu-ray purchase! ::Homer like:: HD Michelle Monaghan) it made a fraction of the scratch any of the movies that I’ve mentioned so far.

If Lethal Weapon 5 made as much as Apocalypto would you consider that a success? I wouldn’t. I’d consider it more a “I had nothing better to do, and I was remembering watcing LW2 on cable one night…”. What do any of you The Movie Blog dudes think?

(edit: sorry for length. I am a “pineapple express” type of guy.)

  2. @ JOHN AND CO.

    WHATUP! =)

Thanks for keeping me entertained so consistently, but I have a minor issue with this podcast regarding Mel Gibsons potential in N. America.

Kris believes he has potential and has “never left” due to the successes of The Passion (which deserves to be called something bigger than just “success”) and Apocalypto, but the former came out years before the incident and the latter doesn’t prominently feature a cop Mel Gibson shooting people.

    Station.

  3. Hey John,

In pineapple express they witnessed a murder and where mixed in with drug dealers and stuff so what if they just end up putting seth in the witness protection program…eventually becoming a cop in a different city.

or maybe superbad was in the past and he just gt fired from the force for all his shannanigans and ended up as a server.

  4. great show guys, like always. on the subject of zach and mari make a porno being an R rating, i still think it sould’ve been nc-17 because of the content level, but i also agree with john on the subject. as for superbad pineapple express sequel that merges together, i think somehow the characters in superbad meet up with james franco, and get into drugs, as for seth rogens cop character, i dont really know how to explian that one

  5. WTF, John your smarter than this, there is no reason for Seth Rogen’s character to be part of a Superbad 2 or a Superbad/Pineapple Express crossover movie.

Superbad 2 would suggest that it’s more or less the same thing as the first, you know another crappy generic sequel that always suck and would have no interest in seeing that and I don’t think many out there beyond the brain dead morons.

Superbad is about the day’s adventure of those HS nerds not Rogen’s character and while I wouldn’t want to see Superbad 2, I would be interested in seeing a film with the follow up of the characters of Superbad and I can’t stress it enough that it makes no sense for Seth Rogen’s Police Officer to be in the a crossover film.

  6. Another great show. I like the idea of having more questions from the chat board (still half way through the show but not tackling as much general news in the first half). Kris is a great co-host; he and John have good chemistry and bounce off of one another well, plus Kris really knows his stuff. I like hearing talk of films that don’t usually get mentioned on this show – Aguirre, the Wrath of God, Once Upon A Time In The West and 2001: A Space Odyssey as just some examples. (Plus Kris is like my movie-taste doppelganger:P).

JOHN…..you should really consider having Kris on as a semi-reglar co-host sometime in the future, perhaps on the show at the same time as Doug or alternating between the two (not taking anything away from Doug mind you:P).

  7. This one was much better, thanks Kristopher. And you may not have read my other comment on the last uncut, but I apologize for the rude comment. I had a bad day. I was at college orientation all day…

  8. great show, and Chris is a very good co-host. Less cussing and less un-funny jokes, and that’s refreshing. I think Chris and Doug should alternate co-hosting duties, maybe they can each do one week and then switch.
