There have been several attempts at doing Holmes and Watson as comedic characters and they were all trainwrecks. I guess Ferrel has run out of sports themes to parody. What’s next for him and Cohen…Jesus and judas?

I agree that somebody should do a serious movie that respects the Sherlock Holmes character rather than a comedy that spoofs him. That would be something I would be interested in.

I just don’t see it. I’m not huge on Will Ferrell anyway, and I can only take Sacha Baron Cohen in small doses most of the time; but even if two of my favorite comedians had been cast, the fact that this is being made as a Comedy leaves a sour feeling in my gut. Sherlock Holmes as a character deserves to have a great movie, even a re-imagining, released sometime soon; but a comedy? I can’t understand how anyone who is a fan of Sherlock Holmes would even consider going to see this movie.

But, with that said, I’ll keep my eyes and ears open for more news about this project. There is always the slight possibility it won’t be a steaming crock of shit–but my hopes aren’t high.

Young Sherlock Holmes was brilliant, I agree. Too bad they never made a sequel to it.

I am not looking forward to this film at all, but I am curious to see how it turns out (not well, I’m guessing).

Really, the only 3 films I’ve liked of Ferrell’s were Roxbury, Fiction, and Semi-Pro. The rest have been shit in my opinion.

This could be really good, but I still want to one day see a sequel to the heavily heavily underrated Young Sherlock Holmes. But I know that’ll never happen now as all the actors are much too old.

naturally this is going to be a comedy, since the two actors are comedians in there own way. Everyone usually associates them with humor. so i’m going to go on a limb here and say this is going to be a comedy and NOT a serious Holmes version

This could work. But there’s a comedic take on the Sherlock Holmes story out there already.
Without A Clue (with Ben Kingsley & Michael Caine) is not only hilarious, the premise of it is actually quite clever as well
