Tom Felton is older than all the other former 'child' actors - he's 21 this year, playing a 16 year old. However, I do think that he is so slim that he can carry that. His height is immaterial since much younger boys than Tom hit 6ft a lot younger than he did. He was about 17 before he started really getting tall.

I love Tom as Draco - the Malfoys and Snape are my favourite characters in the books and I only visited the films (on dvd) because of my liking for the characters - Draco, Lucius and Snape were just how I imagined them in the books when reading.

I think Tom was also always the best actor out of the youngsters and it's a crying shame that he was treated as an extra in the later films. Hopefully this will change in Half Blood Prince.

As for the person higher up the thread who thinks it's clever not to have read the books. You have no idea what you are missing out on. The films are not a patch on the books and I'm glad I have read all the books many many times. I do not revisit the films as often.

I'm glad you mentioned Tom Felton's aging Rodney. I find it hugely noticeable in the second film. The first time we see him is in the book store about 30 mins into the film and he's clearly past puberty, taller than the other kids and voice dropped completely. Halfway into the film, there is a scene in the Slytherin common room and he's clearly half way through puberty, considerably smaller and voice back up a few octaves.

I've just always found it nutty.

Both actors play their characters so well that their height and aging doesn't bother me in the least. I couldn't (and wouldn't want to) imagine anyone else playing Draco. Tom, for me, has always embodied Draco Malfoy and the fact that he's grown in stature more than the books describe him is of little consequence.

If we want to get overly picking Harry is suppose to have green eyes (his mother's), not blue and his hair is always suppose to be messy, but only a couple of directors have paid attention to the hair detail.
Also, Hermione has been allowed to get "too pretty" for the movies with her straight/tamed hair. LoL

I am so glad I haven't read page one of any of these books so I won't spend the entire time nitpicking over stuff. Is his height a crucial element in the books, or is it mentioned in passing? If the former, then it's a problem. If it's the latter, I really don't care. I just watch the movies, enjoy them, and let that be the end of it.
