Brian De Palma Set To Spin Tale About The Boston Strangler

Brian-De-Palma-1It looks like Mr. De Palma is going to tackle the infamous Boston Strangler as his next project. We get the skinny from the murderous caves of Yahoo:

The “Scarface” director has signed on to take the helm of “The Boston Stranglers,” an adaptation of a nonfiction book about Albert DeSalvo, the man who confessed to a series of murders in the Boston area during the 1960s.

The Strangler case continues to stir debate. Many question whether DeSalvo — a publicity hound who confessed to the murders and was later stabbed to death while incarcerated on unrelated charges — was the actual killer.

I know next to nothing about the Strangler. I am disturbed by the behavior of serial killers and don’ t wish to give them any respect or attention. This means I ignore books that talk about their crimes, and when possible, avoid films about them. A person who takes the lives of innocents and avoids combat with equals on the field of battle has the story of a coward, and if I had my way – their name would be stricken from history.

I know many differ from me however, and enjoy a good tale about some of history’s most notorious killers. The Boston Strangler is one of the most popular weirdoes on the block and should make the perfect subject for this type of film. Brian De Palma did wizardry with his remake of Scarface, will this sort of magic strike anew in the hands of the strangler?
