Actually, if they want a part of the series, make a sequal, an updated storyline that shows what is happening today in their world. BUT dont “remake” the original storyline.

Ok, agreed: complete lack of creativity on the part of hollywood. Also, as an 80’s kid I grew up with this movie, so I dont like the idea of remaking a classic, in my opinion. I also think that Hollywood special effects are not always a good thing. Part of the reason I think Short Circuit is a classic is because it was “real.” Real in the sence that they filmed all there “special effects” they didnt have to add special effects in a computer. Take a look at Transformers: they went way too far with their special effects – to the point that they didnt even really resemble the Transformers that many of us remember from the 80s. I think this is a bad idea. Let us remember the Short Circuit movie the way it was supposed to be.

In reply to GODFATHER. you mean Wall-E riding the coat-tails of Short Circuit...remember Short Circuit was released in the 80's, Wall-E is the copycat.

Alright, first off, Short Circuit on the farm idea? Can you say NO WAY, NEVER, EVER, TO CREEPY TO IMAGINE!!! Somethings should never happen. Second, remake? Another sequel is preferable, but I will accept what I can get (Minus the farming J-5 idea). When will they actually show some progress at filming or even evidence that we may see it before I die of old age? Until then, I will enjoy the DVD’s and hope they do not do something extremely stupid like CGI J-5. As long as it does the old movie well, I will gracefully accept the new Short Circuit remake’s arrival.

I can’t wait for the new Short Circuit. Johnny Five is the best! That Wall-e looks like a cheap rip-off… I also just got a copy of Short Circuit on Blu-Ray. The sound and picture quality is sooo amazing!!! It was like being a kid again and watching it for the first time in theaters.

Yeah I agree this is a complete lack of creativity.
I have to surmise that all the buzz about Wall E looking a lot like Jonny 5 has prompted this remake.

Think how cool a remake might be, With the special effects we use now a days, There can be an all out war between Johnny 5 against Johnnys’ 1-20(How many ever there are?). Steve Guttenberg can make a cameo and get his head blown off or something.

This is crazy I just watched my dvd of this the other day. I thought what if they tried to remake this and I didn’t think that it would work. I agree with Noa that as long as they have those same lines then I won’t be as upset but still I am not sure if I like this idea.

So long as the lines “No disassemble!” and “Johnny 5 is alive!” are in there I can’t complain too much, really.
