I thought Across the Universe was fabulous, and the more you see the more you appreciate how well it was done.

Regarding Judi Dench. She played the lead in Cabaret in the 1960's in London and I have heard her singing. She has a lovely husky voice and can sing well.

I guess Javier Bardem dropped out cuz Daniel Day Lewis is now Guido.

Hey Dude, just so YOU know, The Musical Nine is based on Fellini's "8 1/2", an autobiographical film, just like this blogger explained. It was never a book!

See the movie and educate yourself.

Brilliant choices for this film, on all fronts: Director, actors, and subject matter.
R. Marshall is always good at being true to the story and theatricality (esp. in honoring the theatrical story for the genre of film).
Bardem (Oscar proven now), Cotilliard (such a fabulously brilliant and cute newcomer), Loren (enough said), Cruz (sex works), Kidman (we know she has the chops), and Dench. Now, Dench may not immediately be seen as a natural "musical/song" performer (even with an Olivier award for her musical performance), but fear not...she COMPLETELY brings the house down with her genius interpretation of the story!
She can stir emotion like no one else on earth, and her voice is so unique that it just wheedles its way into your heart and there is no evidence that she isn't a natural singer. It just doesn't seem to matter in the end, she WILL win your heart, it's just her way!

This is going to be an AWESOME film, hands down, as long as they actually get the dream cast that has been touted.

Geezus...can't wait!!!!!

Hey dude, just so you know, the stage musical number is, and always has been called 'Nine'. The 8 1/2 reference comes from the titled autobiography the musical was based on. There's no stage musical called 8 1/2. Just FYI.
I know a few folks in a run of the show a few years back.. you'd like it. lots of ladies...

YES!!!

More musicals, more, more, more!

I'm a big fan of the genre, and the latest crop of musicals have been great(save for the piece of SHIT Across The Universe). Moulin Rouge is one of my all-time favorite movies, so I'm all for hearing Nicole sing again.
