When I first heard about Jumper, I thought it was a pretty good concept. I absolutely hate Hayden Christian as an actor, but I thought I’d give him another try – and Samuel L. Jackson was in it. Heh.

From the very beginning, though, it wasn’t very good. It only got worse. Hayden Christian’s acting was terrible. There were good moments, and Jamie Bell was -spectacular-. Overall, though, the acting was horrible – and I don’t think the actual written script was very decent.

It just came out at a good time, I guess. There weren’t a lot of other good movies out, and Jumper had great trailers and whatnot…but the actual movie didn’t cut it. A lot of people had read the book, too.

Hi, I manage a cinema here in perth australia, and I think it went well because of hype and thats it, the marketing campaign was insane Jumper was everywhere, i feel thats why it did so well.

Jumper only doing well b/c of it’s sfx, si-fi story, and it’s hype up trailer. Hype up trailer is why I when to go see it. Beside that I don’t know why it is doing well. I thought it was a So-so type of film.

Basically any movie with good CGI sells out worldwide, if properly distributed. Remember Eragon making 174M$ outside US?!

it’s a damn good movie that’s why..
it didn’t have that OH MY GOD factor.
But it’s low key introduction to a series with a tease of more to come was awesome.

It was a fresh take on the scifi genre.

I for one think if Doug Liman gets to do asequel to this it will shut all the naysayers upp.

Overseas this movie is definitely a hit but domestically it will barely make back its budget.

International audiences love action+sfx+sci-fi movies so it makes sense that jumper is doing well.

Maybe the film was just better than you and John thot. Your reviews have been spot on for the most part and I have been tuned in since Ghost Rider. But, I think you guys are too close to this one. My son and I enjoyed this film and hated Ghost Rider.

Looks like I’m the first non red name to post. Jumper may just become a underground hit, we will have to see. I havn’t seen it yet, but everyone I know who has seen it says that if you are a sci fi fan, you will enjoy this. It does seem like however, that people in other countries, especially the europeans( understand something that we americans do not. Remember Donnie Darko?
