atonement is a pretty amazing film so i think it deserves to have the most noms.

the film makigng in the film is fucking incredible.

who has seen it? didn’t the beach scene blow your fucking mind away?

absolutely amazing.

best work knightley has done by a mile….

so i will be happy to see no country or atonement clean up…i am relaly rooting for no country.

glad knocked up didn’t get the comedy nod…way over rated.i hope juno takes it.

zodiac definitely deserves to be there….it is such a great fucking film.

it is going to be interesting to see what happens with the award shows during the strike..there are a lot of actors who are not going to attend as a show of support for the writers…..there is even talk that the oscars are in jeopardy of not taking place.

Oh, what a travesty. Where is 3:10 to Yuma????

Christian Bale and Russell Crowe were outstanding. The screenplay, the dialogue, the supporting characters were outstanding. Peter Fonda should be up for supporting actor.

Charlie Wilson’s War! A Comedy? Are you kidding. They just couldn’t let Tom Hanks go without could they!?

And where the hell is the love for Gone, Baby, Gone and Ben Affleck!?

I know these are stupid fuckin bubblegum awards but they do tend to have an influence on the Acadamy Awards and this does not impress me in the slightest.

Also, I agree with MFREAK2. Zodiac should’ve been in there somewhere too …. Maybe in the Best Comedy/Musical category alongside Charlie Wilson’s War.

I have not seen it yet, but “The Great Debaters”. I do not understand why it have gotten a nominee in the best film categpry with getting in any other category.

The Golden Globes’ snubbed great films this year? What.a.SHOCK! Seriously folks, this whole thing is being decided by 60-70 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association…who LOVE to have their asses kissed (and cleaned) by the stars.

And the last 3 films to win ‘Best Picture’ at the Oscars did NOT win the same category at the Golden Globes. So…the old argument that the Globes forcast the Oscars in the ‘Best Picture’ race is becoming increasingly bullshit imo.

I’m glad that There will be blood is being recognized for best picture- I was thinking it would be too downbeat for the golden globes–I guess the golden globes don’t really matter but they kinda give you an idea of which movies will be nominated in the oscars…

1. Reign Over Me

The best performance by, of all people, Adam Sandler.

2. Comedy or musical:

Not everyone liked ‘Blades Of Glory’. Fair enough.
But no love for ‘Knocked up’ or ‘Superbad’? Something’s amiss.

3. John Cusack in 1408, Not here.

4. No Christian Bale for 3:10 or Rescue Dawn

5. No Michael Shannon from ‘Bug’.

One thing to keep in mind that these are the Golden Globes. They are given out by members of the foreign press. Thier tastes may not always gel with the public, let alone Oscars. However, those listed as GG noms are ususally the Oscar nominee favorites in major categories.

By the way, there seems to be a lot of love from the int’ friends regarding Zodiac.
I am in the minority; I thought it was a good picture, not a great one.

People seem to have completely forgotten about Zodiac. Things that get released very early in the year almost never get remembered by the time awards season rolls around, which is why so many award-bait films are released late in the year. I wonder why Zodiac’s studio chose to release it so early in the year. Maybe they didn’t think it was award worthy or something.

I’m with you on Gone Baby Gone. That flick was great. Take American Gangster and Atonement out, and put Gone Baby Gone and 3:10 to Yuma in. American Gangster was nothing different from evey other gangster/crime movie ever made. There is NOTHING special about that film. I was so looking forward to seeing that thing, and now I can barely remember it, save for how badass Josh Brolin was in it.

And if you guys get a chance to see The Kite Runner, SEE IT. It’s fantastic.
