ok maybe im one in a million but i love to watch romantic movies and im a guy I spend my time dreaming about being the guy in theses movies I do make the efort I have sang a song, cooked meals, tryed to get her dancing just for the hell of it but it has the opset afect I have been dumped for being what thay call cheasey so my question is what do thay want why do thay shy away for romance then say men arent romantic?

This article is a breath of freash air.
There is no way the women in these films deserve the mens attention. I find these films perpetuate a sexist stereotype of men.
The loser, the dumb guy who doesn’t know anything about women and relationships, because he’s not right for her that must mean he’s a jerk and she was perfect for him.
It seems from reading the comments that these films are not only damaging womens expectaions of men but mens expectations as well.
A lot of comments here about men being more romantic including one from a vrgin who only had 1 relationship telling us she has to show her dad who’s been married for 24 years how to be romantic?
Why can’t women be romantic? You act like experts show prove it. Being romantic isn’t about receiving but givin. I have yet to here about a woman doing something romantic. Doing an over the top guesture for a man let alone small guestures throughout an entire relationship (or even the start) These movies are another way of making it all about the woman and the mans needs are secondary or not important. She never chases him in the rain or apologises yet expects him to for anything/

It’s more of the “These are the unreasonable demands I placing on you to live up to but don’t think you can expect the same of me” we see today.

I agree with “4”
These women having perfect sex like they know what they want and how to do it. Leading men to believe she has no inadequacies and hang-ups that he must overcome (with little to no help from her) so she can be satisfied. After all that’s the only thing that counts.
One last think about romantic films is the amount of violence the male lead has to put up with from the woman. Surely that is wrong?

I think u r being a little too harsh :P I mean…it’s not a mystery to anyone that these movies are unrealistic, but feeling warm and cozy and dreamy once in a while doesn’t hurt :)) I agree with the comments u have made, but pls some women just need to see a lil bit of sugary love promises once in a while ^^

I think the problem is more that we should tell our little girls know, when watching these movies growing up, that this is NOT how things will be. By the time we’re older, we figure this shit out (or at least should) and at this point, movies are more for escape. But we shouldnt give our little girls these silly fake ridiculously high standards. Boys are too lazy to live up to them.

so why can’t it all happen, i am sure there are guys that fit all that, just like there are girls that can fit a guy fantasy. if you want to be that guy, work hard and you will be. same thing for us girls, its not impossible.
