Erm… If you want to answer the thread’s question…do a little research and see how he’s felt about movie-making *period* over the past ten years. See what his priorities have been. What he’s been doing with his life, where he’s wanted to spend his time.

That should take care of just about all the speculation.

Problem is, most movie fans only think in terms of what’s in it for them, and that the stars always think strategically. Hardly the case across the board. Talk to Sean Connery.

John, I wasn’t referring to the comments in your original post. I too think its valid to question the work he’s done since 1997 – and what he will do in the future.

I do think that he’s realized he has let down some fans by doing movies like Hollywood Homicide and Firewall. I think that’s one of the reasons he decided to do Crossing Over. Its a step in the right direction.

Please point out where I criticized Ford (one of my all time favorite actors) for being an old man?

And who said he had anything to “prove”? I said right in my post that he is one of our generations greatest actors. How much more respect can you show?

But facts are facts. His career the last 10 years has sucked. That’s just the way it is. And the question of “where does Ford go from here” is a valid question.

He has nothing to prove… true… but that only INCREASES the validity of the question “where does he go from here”? Just because you’ve got nothing left to prove, doesn’t mean people are lining up to see your movies anymore.

As for the Indiana Jones movies, I love them for the action and adventure. They can go the ‘James Bond’ route and just have different actors portray Indy. Hell, they can get Paul Reubens to play Indy and I will still be there are opening day.

Don’t you dare compare the TOMB RAIDER pieces of shit to the INDY-Flicks. Those movies were an embarrassment for everyone involved, no wonder Angelina Jolie won’t do another. TOMB RAIDER is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

I gotta say some of the posts on here are pretty embarrassing. Its one thing to criticize an actor’s film career – but to call him out for being an “old man” or “looking old” is just plain childish.

Yeah the guy made some lousy movies in the last 10 years – so what!? So has every other actor who was popular in the 70s or 80s. I totally agree with the people saying Harrison Ford has nothing to prove. Show the man some respect.

Indy 4 is Ford’s swansong IMHO. Jolie picked up the mantle of Indiana for the new millenium when she did the Tomb Raider movies (& played Mrs Smith later on). like them or hate them,the TR flicks have everything the IJ series had: exotic locations, amazing action & stuntwork (mostly done by AJ herself,unlike Ford & his many doubles), witty humour & sex appeal in the lead role. as a matter of fact those aforementioned criteria are what made the early Bond films great. hence the need for a more hands-on JB in Daniel Craig (who coincedentally was in the first TR film) starting with Casino Royale. a TR3 still hasnt been ruled out of the mix by Paramount or Angelina either.

i say let the old Indy movies speak for themselves.

we don’t need another waited-too-long mess like the Star Bores prequels.

let the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls bury Ford’s career, waste Lucas’ $ & be the final nail in Spielberg’s credibility coffin.
