The Lost Adventures of Stone Perlmutter Jr.

Jack-Black-AdventureAfter School of Rock came out, some people (including me) started to believe that Jack Black could indeed become the next big huge “A” list movie star. However, since then black didn’t work out all that well in King Kong, Pick of Destiny was horrible… and don’t even get me going about how bad he was in Nacho Libre (a concept that should have totally ruled as a film). It now appears that they’re getting ready to give Black an adventure/comedy film to work on a’ la Indiana Jones called “The Lost Adventures of Stone Perlmutter Jr.”

The good folks over at Cinematical give us this:

it will revolve around an adventurer (Black) who goes in search of elusive and mystical artifacts. The story will play out in a faux documentary style, and revolve around recently-discovered footage from 1979 that features Perlmutter Jr. searching for things like Yeti, El Dorado and the lost tomb of Jesus.

Oh man… I don’t know about you, but to me this sounds stale. I actually still like Black as a performer… I’d just really like to see him do more comedy, as opposed to slap stick comedy. He’s got killer timing and fantastic physical expression that can really make an ordinary situation shine as a comedic piece. This just sounds like another Nacho Libre… building a clown comedy around a silly premise. Oh well… maybe they can make something watchable out of it.
