He did express some lack of interest back when news of this movie first hit, but story after story has sold him. John is not just some guy who owns this site, he is one of my oldest friends.

They could include it if they pick this story up as Ironman already existing, but they have said it will be an origin story. So it doesn’t fit.

And yes, they have announced that Mandarin is the enemy and according to IMDB (not saying that is 100% reliable) Shaun Toub is playing him.

Also, John has admitted that the more he hears about this movie the more interested he is.

Things happen in order for a reason.

I just get sick to my stomach when people act like the alcoholism is the only thing that Tony Stark has in the way of character.
And dont say he’s like Bruce. He’s nothing like Bruce and if you read both the comics (like I used to) it would be painfully obvious that he’s NOTHING like Bruce Wayne. Not in character. Not in execution. Not in history. Not in the reason they do what they do. Not in their methods. Nothing.

Jon Favreau has said repeatedly that the alcoholism will not feature in the first movie.

And to that I say, thank God.
Tony Stark wasnt an alcoholic when he became Iron Man.
He became an alcoholic years and years after he became Iron Man when the pressure of being the hero and the CEO got to be too much to handle.
It’s called a character arc people.
If you make him an alcoholic before he puts on the suit, then you’re taking his arc away.
