Obi-Wan Kenobi Cloak Goes For $104,000

Obi-Wan-CloakI’m not one of those guys that always wishes he was richer. I’m quite happy with my life, and also quite grateful for what I have… I don’t need much more. But on the odd day, there are times when I think to myself “Oh man I wish I was stupid rich right now”. Today is one of those days.

MSNBC gives us this:

The brown hooded cloak worn by Obi-Wan Kenobi in “Star Wars” — and then forgotten for years in a warehouse — sold for $104,000 to an anonymous telephone bidder Tuesday at an auction of movie and TV memorabilia. The auction’s main attraction was the hooded cloak worn by Alec Guinness as Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi in “Star Wars.” It had gone unnoticed in the company’s inventory until its provenance was discovered last year.

Yeah… damn… to have the Obi-Wan cloak wore by Guinness himself would be… would be… damn… orgasmic. I think I’d throw away my furniture and just make my living room a “Display Room” for the cloak. Then, I’d cut a hole in my wall to the bedroom so that even when I slumber, all I have to do is open my eyes and see its glory!

I mean come on! How fricken cool would it be to actually OWN that?

  1. The anonymous bidder got a bargain. Recall that some ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz went for about US$650,000 at the turn of the century. This cloak’s only going to get more valuable, and quickly.
