Dungeons and Dragons FanFilm Contest

A while back, John posted about the Dungeons and Dragons FanFilm contest. Now I love fanfilms, and its a time consuming hobby to sort through them to find the good ones, but truely entertaining if you have anything to do with the fandom.

The contest held this treasure for the winners

A new computer, video-editing software, a video camera and a Dungeons & Dragons “Year of Dragons” gift pack. Three finalists will receive round-trip flights to Los Angeles, along with hotel accommodations, to attend the final awards ceremony. All eligible films will be posted at Gamevideos.com about Sept. 15, and fans nationwide will be able to vote for their favorites until Sept. 30. The final three films will be screened in Los Angeles at the Worldwide Dungeons & Dragons Game Day, where the grand-prize winner will be announced.

Well there are already a lot of entries up at GameVideos.com for you to check out. They range from actually showing the game being played and the geekiness that surrounds all that, to cinematic representations of in game scenes.

There are a lot to surf through, and if you are a dice and paper gamer geek, there is a lot of inside humour to be found in these. Some are very well done, others are kinda sad. No budding Oscar nominees here, but there is a lot of passion and fun for the hobby.

Its worth a look.

  1. I can’t stand to see these articles with no comments on them. I mean, you worked hard on it, Rodney, and no bastard even bothers to tell you that you suck or call you John or anything. That’s just rude.

I don’t know too much about this Dungeons & Dragons, but I’ve heard of it, and I understand there’s some controversy over Vin Diesel’s involvement with it – but that’s about it.

These fan films are a good thing, though, I think. I look forward to the day when these fan films guys are getting paid top dollar to churn out Hollywood product. Or maybe that day is already with us? Not too sure, but I’m often wrong. No doubt, someone will tell me.

    Hope you are well, Rodney.
