  1. holy shit…sorry to go on about box office but pirates made 18 million on monday……after 4 days it has now made more than superman returns…….

    18 million on monday!!!

    fucking hell…

oh and for the record on box office mojo supermans opening day take of 21 million has officially been downgraded to 18 million..3 million was on the tuesday…so the destruction continues……

  2. Dead’s Man’s Chest was the biggest disappointment of the year to me. So weird that I thought Supes would suck and I LOVED it, and I thought Pirates would rock and I HATED it.

  3. I know I /really/ love DMC, and that I want to stand up for it due to the mixed opinions about it, but I’ve got to be honest: CBP was much better.

Dead Man’s Chest didn’t have a clear plotline, like…I believe you said, John, in your audio. Definitely agree with you. The movie tried for a solid story, but it ended up growing shaky. Secondly, too much extraneous characters and scenes were scrunched into terrible places, for instance, the whole native chapter. I can understand the purpose behind it and the entertainment it gave, but there was too much going on: Turner gets put in cages with the crew, Jack about to be roasted, Jack escapes, Turner and crew escape, Jack gets caught again, Jack about to roasted again, yadda yadda yadda.

Then again, DMC’s effects were even better than the first, I’ve got to give them that. I thoroughly enjoyed the villains much more than Barbossa and his crew, too.

Though I mean, earnestly, I loved Pirates II. Four stars, probably, but, hell, the first one was /amazing/. Probably /inspiring/. Even though the second was plain fantastic, it does not compare to the first.

  4. Anyway, second Pirates by far. There were moments in the cinema where the entire audience was sitting there smiling the screen

The wicker ball scene and the rolling wheel scene stoood out in the film.

I watched the first one shortly after the second, and I believe the bad guys were better in the first one, but the second one was much better overall.
