Well for Westerners who aren't overly educated in foreign cinema Asian Horror means the stable of Ring, Eye, etc and I wanted to make sure people saw this as not coming from that stable of Horror but having huge influence from.

When I use the term it's not about geography, just a style of movie, and to be honest I hate categorising films (or anything) that simply.

Asian Horror will mean more psychological horror, brooding, usually attached to feelings from death particularly spirits after death, the image of children, and techniques such as slightly tilted camera angles, images slightly out of focus and not quite right, events happening just at the edges of the camera, all these things connect me to Asian Horror...but there's so much more. Drop me a note if you want more.

whoa!! i never thought that this movie would attract foreign eyes!!

thanks for making this review - now i know that i can categrize "Sigaw" as one of the Asian horror films that have made an impression in non-Filipino viewers.

I'm just wondering why you didn't classify this film as Asian horror initially... I mean, the Philippines is also an Asian country, right?

What exactly is Asian Horror for you? [this is a friendly question, I'm researching on this topic] I hope I can have some info from you, since you're a film critic.

This is exactly what I like about this blog, for what are the chances that I would get this review somewhere else? As a Filipino living abroad, I have lost touch with homegrown films so reading this news from The Movie Blog and coming from Rich was very exciting! It is good to know that Philippine made horror movies are finally being recognised and although I am not a big fan of the genré, I'll keep an eye on this one.

Cheers Rich! ;-)
