Which actor for President?

PresidentialSeal.jpgAfter posting the link to Christopher Walken for President in Readers Lives #2 it got me thinking, which actor would I like to see as President…well since I’m Scottish it’s a bit unfair of me to choose, but jokingly, I like Arnie for it, seriously I do believe Martin Sheen would make a good President!

Here’s the thing though, if you had to choose an actor for President, who would it be and why?

As I said, I would choose Sheen because he is an active campaigner in real life for many excellent causes, plus he knows all about being President, what to do, how to behave and where all the rooms are in the West Wing! Now you guys…

  1. Oh Dear, I would much rather see some of the characters these actors played being president than any of them. Talk about shallow and misinformed. Can we have a duet and nominate Penn and Teller? Ofically it would be a President and a Vice President…this way the Vice President would not stick his foot in his mouth by speaking as has happened in the past.

  2. I agree with the canadian about Eastwood. He seems so no b.s. Oprah though? We would have Tom Cruise running amuck in the white house jumping on couches in the oval office. The truth is and the problem with our government is the smart people are too smart to run for office. Eastwood was talked into being mayor of Carmel California, I doubt he would eccept the Commander and Chief. Martin Sheen? Good on tv but in real life leans a little too far one way to represent a nation of opionated fools as we are. Arnie is not really the man trying to change the rules but other senators are. I say again, any actor who would make a good president would be too smart to run.

  3. I know he is not American but I think that Richard Dean Anderson should be president, this is based on a couple of items I have seen. First he has had international relationships through his time being McGuyver, second if he can keep the whold world safe from the invading hordes of Anubis and friends I think he would be just what the United States needs. I mean he can fix anything with a spoon and a piece of bubble gum. That is my blog read it or not that is what I think.

  4. THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL BLOG GUYS.

KNOCK OFF THE POLITICAL TALK. WE’RE TALKING ANECDOTALLY ABOUT WHICH ACTOR WE WOULD LIKE IN THE WHITE HOUSE.

NOT IRAN CONTRA OR HOW STUPID BUSH IS, OR WHATEVER. LET’S STICK TO THE TOPIC!!!

    SEE MY LIST ABOVE,

    closed circuit to Aaron picnic:

    I can’t believe I forgot about BRUCE CAMPBELL….HELL YEAH!

  5. They already have an actor running America, Bush. His been acting like he knows what he is doing for years! And surely he must be acting dumb, no one can be that stupid! And he does all his own stunts! Stunt bike falling, crashing into Police men (again on a Bike, falling of that machine that it is impossible to fall of and chocking on a pretzle (if only the damn pretzle had been bigger!)

I think him a Tony Blair could do a sequal together, Dirty Rotten Scoundrals 2

  6. Terry, he did try. You should have read the Readers Lives post earlier.

Jesse Ventura would be so cool! Kurt Russell I like for it as well.

Isn’t Arnie seeking to change the Constitution to allow non-US born Presidents?

  8. I sort of like to know what a person thinks and stands for before allowing my nipples to get hard over their political potential. As much as I like Christopher Walken as an actor, he may be a complete asshat in terms of political ideology for all I know. Martin Sheen seems like a pretty flakey spineless jellyfish from what I’ve read. Maybe he could be Canadian Prime Minister instead. :P

  9. SEAN PENN!!!!

Not really. If I was going on what charecteristics I like out of our leader I’d probably say someone like Martin Sheen or around that. Someone strong and noble , but not stiff and theres thigns about him that make him seem down to earth.

But it all really depends on what their issues are.

  10. Even though I am Canadian, I think Clint Eastwood would make a good president. He does have a little bit of political experience, even though he was just a mayor. And I don’t think you would want to piss off Clint. Morgan Freeman would also be good, and he was convincing as the president in ‘Deep Impact’plus he seems to be a person you can trust. Maybe Harrison Ford, but I don’t think he has any polital desires. Last but not least, maybe Oprah. She sure has the popularity, and it’s about time for a woman became president. But that’s my 2 cents.

  11. I don’t have a particular actor that I would like to see president. I would also like to say that I am neither conservative nor liberal. I go issue by issue and sometimes I side with conservative and sometimes I side with liberals. Generally I think both parties promote their own political philosophy publicly but pass laws that benefit special interest anyway.

That said I would like to add that I think Ronald Reagan was the greatest president in our lifetime. Even if you disagreed with his political bent at least he stuck to his guns. He enacted laws that were in line with the political philosophy that he promoted. Since we actually got what we voted for from Reagan, I think it would be a good idea if we elected another actor. Maybe this time a liberal would help matters.

At any rate I am a believer that the quality and strength of a person’s character is more important that their political ideology. In the end truth is always truth. If you put an honest guy in the white house, be it conservative or liberal, good things will happen.

I have always thought that Tom Hanks would be a very electable individual. Seems like almost everyone likes him. How much strength of character he has I have no way of knowing however.
