Smallville star Michael Rosenbaum looks to be the leading rumour for the role of Freddy Kreuger in Michael Bay’s remake of a Nightmare on Elm St.
A Cinema Blend source says that Michael Rosenbaum has been lunching with Michael Bay. The assumption: this could mean that he’s talking with the director about the upcoming Nightmare on Elm Street remake. It’s a huge guess, but it’s one I’d be quite happy with.
If there is one think Rosenbaum has proven is that he can be evil. His character on Smallville has made a slow progression towards manipulative and heartless but still passionate about his focus. This is excellently done due solely to Michael Rosenbaum. He has proven himself quite the actor in his movie career as well.
It leaves a little sore spot to think of someone else playing Freddy Kreuger, however this is speculation so it is possible that Rosenbaum could play someone else entirely. Furthermore, Bay has more on his plate than his proposed remake of Nightmare on Elm St.
Could be any one of the 80s horror classic remakes headed this way with Bay’s foot in the door. Birds? Friday the 13th? or is it A Nightmare on Elm st?
Ron … ANY actor can be replaced. Some are just harder than others. Englund is far from irreplaceable. He did those movies in a rubber mask in the same outfit. Any impersonator with the same mask can pull off that job.

Michael is my brother and when I watch him on t.v. or in a movie, I see the character that he is portraying. I am glad that he is done with Smallville because he came home to Indiana 2 weeks in a row and I was able to spend time with him even going to the arcade. It was a fun time.
How about we don’t remake freddy and Jason movies. Let’s try making new ideas. this is getting sad in Hollywood. Michael Rosenbaum is a good actor but it is not about him, this shouldn’t even be a topic. He should be the bad guy in an original movie.

All of those reasons against Rosenbaum have nothing to do with his talent. Rosenbaum can change his voice to be more sinister (much like Englund, Rosenbaum has done extensive voice acting), and the outfit is 90% in the face, which is easily done with makeup.
Rosenbaum is 2 inches taller than Englund. He is also in better shape as Englund turns 61 this year. Check out Rosenbaum’s work outside of Smallville. He is quite a capable actor.
Performing a tribute part of the character in community theater hardly qualifies you as better for the role let alone an extra in a haunted house. I saw the site you posted, and sad to say you don’t resemble him much aside from the shirt and claws. The makeup is vaguely Freddy-ish but far from accurate.
This is still in the rumour stage. It is all speculation. Bay will be replacing Freddy with another actor and we will see what happens there. But it will be an actor.

hay there rodney. So I had a few mis spelled words. I just would like to know that I make mistakes to .I also know that you not makeing this movie but if you watched smallville or any of the movies that michael has made then you would know why I said that he is not the best choice for the part . 1 he is to tall . 2 wrong kind of voice 3 he to thin even robert is biger then him . and Iam am still the best choice. if you dont bleave me check out nightmare at pinehaven videos and casts . or check out my space just put my name in chuck visger check it out then you might be convinced

Well there “Chuck” the first stage to getting a successful audition is not to bash your competition. Second step is not to type in all caps. The third step is to actually save that speech for someone who has ANYTHING to do with the movie.

Rosenbaum can play Freddy and STILL be on Smallville. Nothing says he would leave Rmallville just to be in one movie.

This is absurd. There is absolutely no reason to remake this movie. It makes me sick how shallow the creative pool in Hollywood has truly become!

Rosenbaum has lunch with Bay…it could mean another film, it could mean Elm Street, it could be….having lunch with Michael Bay. For all we know,they are talking about Transformers 2 or how good the food is.
Yes. I can totally see him being evil as all hell. Almost as frightening as his role in “Kickin’ It Old School”.

I really like Rosenbaum, 1. he went to WKU, 2. does a great on Smallville, 3. He was in Poolhall Junkies (AWESOME MOVIE)……However, i am not to crazy about a remake to a Nightmare on Elm St.
Friday the 13th IS getting remade by Bay. The script has already been written by the same guys who wrote Freddy Vs. Jason, with Marcus Nispel attatched to direct.
Go Lex Go!! He should do a fine job.
