Trailer Reaction: Suburbicon

Suburbicon

Yes, I’m dusting off my camera and keyboard, and took a moment to catch up on some of the trailers that were released in recent weeks. Suburbicon is an interesting one with George Clooney directing Matt Damon, Julianne Moore, Noah Jupe, and Oscar Isaac in a strange tale about how a suburban family turns murderous. I think this movie has a lot going for it but for the life of me I can’t imagine who this film is for. It’s partially comedic but ultimately dramatic but it also has bizarre undertones that undermine all of that. Mind you this is just a trailer but man alive, it leaves a weird first impression. Let me know what you think of this movie. Do you agree? Is this movie just weird or am I totally off my rocker and I’m just missing the point.

SUBURBICON is a peaceful, idyllic suburban community with affordable homes and manicured lawns …the perfect place to raise a family, and in the summer of 1959, the Lodge family is doing just that. But the tranquil surface masks a disturbing reality, as husband and father Gardner Lodge (Matt Damon) must navigate the town’s dark underbelly of betrayal, deceit, and violence. This is a tale of very flawed people making very bad choices. This is Suburbicon.
