Must See Movies From November

HANDS OF STONE

There has been a heavy run of boxing films lately, one of the best of them is Hands of Stone. Based on the true story of famed boxer Roberto Duran. Edgar Ramirez plays Duran, from his humble beginnings in Cuba all the way through his championship fights with Sugar Ray Leonard. It’s a compelling story and film. Ramirez embodies the good and bad sides of Duran. Usher eerily resembles Sugar Ray Leonard. Ana de Armas steals the show playing Duran’s wife. The fight scenes are nicely executed, the buildup feels real. The side story of Duran as a person out of the ring is just as compelling as the fights. The storytelling is on point. There is a lot to like about this film, lots of it is due to the great execution of the plot and action. The boxing is hard hitting, no pun intended. I’m a big fan of boxing movies, so this was an easy buy for me, but you don’t have to be a fan of boxing or boxing movies to enjoy Hands of Stone.

Hands of Stone is available now on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD and On Demand
