In the past week or so the cast for The Amazing Spider-man 2 has really been picking up momentum by securing Dane DeHaan as our new Harry Osborn, Jamie Foxx as our new electro, and today we just learned that Martin Sheen will return as our new/old Uncle Ben.
The actor was on RTÉ’s The Late Late Show and when asked about his next appearance on the big screen, he said:
“Well they called me back, I don’t know what the part’s going to be but I’m going to be Uncle Ben once again in Spider-Man next year. We shoot in February.”
This is really good news as I thought Martin Sheen and Sally Field were involved in some of my favorite scenes in the first film. I’ll stop harping on the film for being inferior to the first film in Sam Raimi’s trilogy, but I wholly expect the next to be the a genuine step up and hopefully the best Spider-Man film ever.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is expected to hit theaters on May 2, 2014.
