Tomar-Re’s voice actor

More casting news surrounding some of the voices for the upcoming Green Lantern movie is making it’s way online and this time it’s regarding another corps member finding his voice.

Geoffrey Rush is back in the mode of demanding teacher — but instead of a king’s speech therapist, the Aussie actor will be Tomar-Re, a bird-beaked alien who teaches Ryan Reynolds’ character how to use his new cosmic powers in “Green Lantern.”

Geoffrey Rush is a fine actor and I’m sure that the Kings Speech participant will have no problem voicing the part in the movie and giving us a great Tomar-re. He does not have the voice I envisioned in my head but that’s partially expected with movies and I’m glad to hear that another Oscar worthy voice is participating in this film.

  1. Nice voice actor casting… I wonder if Peter Cullen (he’s busy with Transformers 3 I know) will voioe a Green Lantern character as well…. Ganthet perhaps? :D

  2. Its better that these signings are late (not this late) because the voice actors can work with established lines and tones. Do not forget Geoffrey Rush can change his voice into a few different spectrums so what he decides to put out for Tomar-Re could be very interesting.

  3. Folks are worried about these late castings, but I’m hoping Rush and MCD will save those parts of the movie. Even though Reynolds isn’t the best, the other 2 have the chops to “interact” with anyone.

    1. I’m concerned with how late in the game these signing are coming. The movie comes out in 2 months and they’re just now signing voice actors? Perhaps we won’t see much of these characters and there isn’t much to record. It doesn’t help that this is the first news released since the less than stellar trailer came out earlier this year. I fear we’ll end up getting a finished product that feels rushed and incomplete
