The Lone Ranger has been one of those movies that’s been sitting on the ‘radar’ mainly out for posterity as I really don’t remember ever watching the show in my youth. Either way the idea of a good western is never ignored on my watch so today’s news regarding Ryan Gosling considering the Lone Ranger is slightly bitter sweet.

According to TheWrap, Disney is in negotiations with actor Ryan Gosling for the lead role in “The Lone Ranger.” However, the web site also noted Gosling might not take it due to scheduling conflicts with certain films. One of Gosling’s projects include “Logan’s Run,” which he will play the lead role and will begin production this fall.
Now I DO remember watching Logan’s Run in my youth, (repeatedly), and I loved the hell out of that movie which explains my bittersweet statement. I don’t mind the idea of Johnny Depp’s Tonto teaming with a Ryan Gosling-Lone Ranger, unless it’s at the expense of my precious Logan’s Run. But the Lone Ranger is a western and western’s could ALSO be awesome. My ‘radar’ is in serious disarray and in need of extensive repair. Great.
