Arrested Development movie CONFIRMED

There have been a lot of grumblings about a rumored Arrested Development movie for years, and things started picking up more steam within the last few weeks with Batemen letting the cat out of the bag that talks progressed a bit further than they had in the past. Today fans around the internetz can finally release a sigh in relief as the movie has been confirmed as well as the return of the show for another season.

Via TVline, ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT creator Mitch Hurwitz announced at the New Yorker Festival that he’s going to bring the shot back to television for a brief mini season (9 or 10 episodes) that will lead up to the movie. What’s interesting is that each episode would focus on a different Bluth. That plan is done so that it wouldn’t cause scheduling conflicts with the actors who some have now become busy movie stars themselves. As far as which channel or network this mini season would air, Deadline said Netflix and Showtime are in competition.

I like the idea of the show returning, but I guess I’ll just have to admit that I’m one of those people in the minority who isn’t sure why this series needs a movie. I wanted to see the return of these characters and finding out what they’ve been up to over the last 5 years as much as the next guy, but I’m still not sold on the idea of watching their story unfold on the big screen. Either way, this movie is happening and will hit a theater near you in 2013!

  1. Confirmed? follow your links back to the original article. It says Mitch Hurtwiz WANTS Arrested Development to return to TV with episodes.

    Nothing is confirmed.

And NO WHERE does it say a MOVIE is confirmed either.

Remember when writers here used to actually read the article before jumping to conclusions like this?

    1. C’mon OtherGuy, how about a bit more credit? did you read the original article? here’s another twitter quote to help:

“One of its stars, Jason Bateman confirmed this info by tweeting the following..

“It’s true. We will do 10 episodes and the movie. Probably shoot them all together next summer for a release in early ’13. VERY excited!””
