Micronauts have Zombieland writers

Most may not remember the Micronauts, but that isn’t slowing down plans to get a movie in place. Today I just learned that the Zombieland writing duo consisting of Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have been hired to write a script for Micronauts.

Paramount struck a deal with Hasbro for the property recently, and it’s considered a priority project behind the planned Transformers 4. Abrams will produce through his Bad Robot Productions. Micronauts is the American version of Japan’s Microman toy line. They first showed up in the States in 1976 through Mego Corporation who ended the line in 1980. The toys had a revival in 2002-2003 through Palisades Toys and then again when Hasbro announced plans to launch a new line of Micronauts, which also coincided with the news that Abrams was developing the movie that’s now set up at Paramount.

This will sell lots of toys. I’m not exactly sure what direction they may take this movie but I like the duo that they have working on the project and look forward to seeing what they come up with. This movie is fairly early in the “movie assembly” line so I look forward to more news and disappointments along the way.

  1. I remember the Micronauts from when I was a kid, mostly because Marvel did a comic book series for it. I wonder if they’ll take any of the direction from that source or if it will be all new.
