‘Ender’s Game’ set for March 2013

Gavin Hood has been working hard behind the scenes to get an adaptation of Enders Game in motion for a while. There wasn’t much word on his progress with the project but today Summit Entertainment released a list of release dates for their projects and have a place for the project.

…And of course, Ender’s Game written/directed by Gavin Hood set for March 15th, 2013 as well – and that’s their latest line-up…

…Our last update on the Ender’s Game adaptation was earlier this year reporting that Summit was getting the rights to distribute. Gavin Hood (Tsotsi, Rendition, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is directing from his own script, with Star Trek/Transformers/Cowboys & Aliens writers Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci producing…
Ender’s Game is the adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s sci-fi novel about a kid sent to fight a futuristic war.

I’m actually excited that this movie even managed to secure a release date. My only, and big, apprehension about the project is director Gavin Hood. Just not too sure about the guy and he pretty much ruined his reputation on this website after directing the Wolverine movie.

I want to find out what kind of budget the movie has managed to secure, as well as who they plan on casting in the various roles. I’ll keep an eye out for this movie and we have over a year to get all the juicy details. I’ll keep you guys informed…

  1. This is something that could turn out to be really good. I have read every book in the Ender series, and the Shadow series, and it is going to be really important who they cast as Ender and Bean. I just hope that they don’t make either one too snarky. I can’t wait to hear more about this.

  2. Good story that was published for a younger age group then it should have been. Ender is basically a bad ass at war games. He is tested in this “battle room” that he ends up finding out is real and all the people he controlled where real. Not impressed with a live action movie though. Bad idea.
