RUMOR: Jurassic Park 4 still in the works

This one just won’t die. It’s often mentioned, refuted, and a subject of conspiracy and controversy but people keep insisting that Jurassic Park 4 will be a reality, and it will if director Joe Johnston has anything to say about the matter.

We are in discussions about Jurassic Park IV. The most important thing I can tell you is that it starts a new trilogy that will go off in a different direction – a completely different direction that is very exciting, and different from anything we’ve seen. It starts with the history of the first trilogy, but it spins it off in a completely different direction. That’s all I can tell you.

There’s still a lot of open-ended opportunities to return to this franchise without going in another direction. We still have inGen and a canister of DNA, not to mention a whole ‘nother island that hasn’t been visited since the 1st movie released 17 years ago. I mean, the dinosaurs on the 2nd island survived without their medicine, what about the dinosaurs on the 1st island?

But at the end of the day, he’s made me fall for hype before. I’ll believe it when I see it.

  1. Why couldn’t the canister have been retrieved by a contingency operative working for a rival genetics firm besides the one Nerdy was working for? This would allow a whole new set of islands to be the focal point of the story. What about dinosaurs impervious to cold temperatures through genetic manipulation? The point about sci-fi movies is what can be possible not necessarily probable.

  2. Yeah, I really hope we get some more Jurassic Park but they best not screw it up. I think IMO they should go ahead and do a REBOOT like Crema mentioned or maybe pull a LOST and get a group of people to crash on the island and while waiting for rescue they realize its inhabited by Dinosaurs or as Crema also mention it taking place in a future period where the Dinosaurs have over populated the world causing humans to now be the species to be extinct.

  3. I think what he’s hinting at is that the new films will take place in a future world where Dinosaurs have become the dominant species on Earth, and humans are just trying to survive… more along the lines of pulp fantasy.

Personally I’d like to see a remake of the original Jurassic Park that stays closer to source novel. I like Speilberg’s film a lot, but he sentimentalized the novel and cut out a lot of great ideas and plot twists that would still surprise audiences.

  4. The canister is no good. There was only enough coolant in it to keep the embryos viable for 36 hours…enough time to get them off the Island. It’s been 15 years…it’s over.

Why do people keep focusing on the canister? Think BIG…It’s not like someone ELSE couldn’t go digging in the bornean caves looking for fossilized mosquitos. Bypass Ingen altogether and bring in a new ‘villian’.
