Miss USA has her Geek Status Challenged

Just recently, Alyssa Campanella – newly crowned Miss USA shocked the world admitting that she is a big geek.

Now for some reason it was too hard for people to believe that a beauty queen could possibly be a “REAL” geek and the internet was all enraged that this girl would tarnish the repuatation of real geeks everywhere with this obvious false claim.

Well in her promotional tour in a video link with Access Hollywood they decided to challenge her unprepared with a Star Wars quiz. Let’s see how she does!

No hesitation. She answers each of these questions as any real Star Wars geek would, even admitting how the questions are not that challenging, offering more tricky questions instead.

I was actually surprised that so many geeks online took offfense that an attractive person could be a geek and instantly assumed that it wasn’t possible.

I think that offends me more as a geek that the geeks couldn’t grasp this.

  1. Geeks don’t rule the world. The rich rule the world, everybody else is just living in it, Geeks included. In regards to Miss USA’s Geek status. Knowing that much about Star Wars makes her a Geek in my book. Hell! I love comic books, video games, sci fi and fantasy with a passion. But will you every see me dress up like Darth Vader or go to a comic shop to play D&D…No. I tried D&D years ago and found it boring and although I love Star Wars, dressing up like the characters just isn’t me. My point being is Geeks come in all shapes and sizes. We should all except each other without bias.

  2. In this day and age, geeks rule the world…it’s cool to be one.

If you’ve ever read interviews from some of the most attractive women today, most admit that they’re geeks.

  3. she’s not a geek she just loves star wars.

can she also answer star trek, battlestar galactica, stargate, dragon ball and lord of the rings questions with that ease??

does she play dungeon and dragons and magic the gathering?

whats her halloween costume been the past 5 years?

anyways I agree she’s hot but I agree with geeks who say she aint a geek either cause a real geek is too busy being a geek to be a beauty queen

    1. Where’s your logic in this? I like football and MMA so that doesn’t make me a sports fan apparently? Can I tell you the names and schools of the Heisman trophy winners from the past five years? Do I play basketball and games on the weekends with my buddies? Did I dress up as a sports start for Halloween for the past five years?

So based on what your saying if I don’t meet your “Criteria” I cannot be considered an sports fan then?

I can be in good shape but according to you that won’t make me atheltic or a jock because I’m not too busy working out or memerizing stats?

According to you if I don’t meet certain criteria or atributes I cannot be classifed as a “Geek”.

Geek is slang term defined as
: carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken or snake
: a person often of an intellectual bent who is disliked
: an enthusiast or expert especially in a technological field or activity

So I have never been a carnie, people like me (sometimes) and I do have an extensive knowledge of comptuers, in fact I work and repair computers. So by defintion I am geek and she isn’t as well as many people who enjoy Star Wars, Anime, Comics, Battlestar Gallactica, Star Trek and many other things.

Do you meet the criteria by Webster’s defintion? If you don’t, then you can’t be call yourself a geek too my friend. Sorry but you have to be fair all around, not just towards someone because they don’t look or act a certain way.

Point is, she is hot and she knows a bit about Star Wars. What is not to love about this woman? Hey she may not quote Epsidoes 4-6 line for line and even know about Knights of the Old Republic but she has some knowledge and enthusiam about Sci-Fi and things that are considered “geeky”. And I think that is pretty awesome, she is breaking the boundries placed by a vain and prejudice society. She is a girl, who is hot and loves Star Wars. Don’t be a tool and judge people based on their looks. Have an open mind and open heart and accept people for what they are.

      1. sorry dude im not a full fledged geek just like her.

i have some definatly geeky qualities in me just like her but my point was that a real full fledged geek takes major pride in being that geeky and some mediocre geek saying that they are a geek gets real geeks mad.

  4. She seems more intelligent than the host asking her the questions yea hotties just play dumb cause its what guys like.
Its all a act no guy wants to date a girl more intelligent or stronger than they are. Because thats not manly if she’s stronger or smarter.

  5. I guess people believe that in order to be a geek you have to be fat, wear glasses, have braces and no social life. The fanboy/ geek culture needs to break that stereotype and accept anybody and not discrimate. Who cares if a person is thin, fat, ugly, beautiful, as long as they can hold a conversation on why Lucas screwed up with Greedo shooting first and why Batman could beat Superman in a fight, then its all good baby! The moment you discriminate a person for their looks you become the people who shunned you for being different. Shame on you online geeks! SHAME ON YOU!
