Meanwhile…The Amityville Horror AGAIN

Every now and then Hollywood hears about a project and suddenly there’s four different films about the same subject, and it’s a race to the finish line of whose film gets to theatres first. Could be Vampires (Jim Jarmusch in one corner, Neil Jordan in another) Re-imagined Fairy tales or the latest disaster to destroy the Earth. Or…competing Amityville Horror films?
The other day I mentioned one film connected to The Amityville Horror and when I heard news that Weinstein Company was doing one, I had assumed it was the same one.

I was wrong. It’s a whole ‘nother film!

From First Showing:

a completely different project has just been revealed by Dimension Films, Miramax and The Weinstein Company that will also toss another film into the horror franchise. The three companies just announced production of The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes, a film that will take the recent found footage craze and apply it to the story of the classic horror series. by showcasing the events after the time of the original The Amityville Horror book and movie.

Ahh. Found footage. And the other project’s 3D. I’m just waiting on MGM and Platinum Dunes now to do a sequel to the remake- y’know. Why the hell not? This Amityville sis hot stuff-at least someone thinks so. I never thought I would see the day when H’wood would actually compete for a Amityville Horror movie. Volcano movies, Undersea monsters, superhero flicks, exorcism flicks… okay I can understand that. That’s a generalization. But a specific topic? And a subject/sequel/tie-in which nobody gives a lick about!?

Am I missing something here?

  1. Personally, I love the shaky cam, found footage films… I don’t think they’re crap, and I find them pretty interesting for the most part.

You want bad shaky cam? Watch Ironclad.

      1. True……True…..

Just the shaky cam (speculation at this point) gives me a headache most of the time.
there should be a disclaimer for all those Blair Witch/Cloverfeld shaky cam movies like the video games, y’know the ones that could give you convoltions and shit.

3-D has nothing to fear for headaches compaired to the always frustrating (to me) “SHAKY-CAM”!!!!

        :)
        just sayin’

      2. it will be amazing when they put shaky cam and 3D into one movie
( i thought they were gonna do it in this movie but then i reread the post carefully and theres one of each now if only we could combine them)
