Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Leaked Trailer Online

Check out the new “leaked” Redband trailer for David Fincher’s adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The consensus around the net is that the emphasis on the quotes around “leaked” imply it was an intentional bootleg as its been making the rounds all weekend and YouTube hasn’t yanked it yet.

Check it out.

This doesn’t have a lot of impact for me. Perhaps if I saw the original this seemingly random scattering of scenes against some angry music would have greater meaning.

I didn’t see enough here to make me want to see the movie. Perhaps when a trailer that outlines the plot and characters comes out I will feel differently.

  1. Is it just me or is the USA the only country in the world that can’t watch anything except it’s own movies? Do they really have to make their OWN version of an otherwise brilliant and easily understandable film which was released to numerous other countries?

  2. so having seen the original ones of which the first one was quite good. This trailer seem mind blowing, but not that different visually to the original. I’m sure with more money they’ll be able to pull of something good. But i’m confused why it isn’t call Men Who Hate Women ? That was the original movie tittle. I think it would have been more of a draw…

  3. Is this pirated? (kidding!)

Joking aside that’s some good picture and sound quality from a cam. HD too!

The clip does nothing for me except make me rewind to see if I saw a boob or not. Meh.

  4. The Swedish version is fantastic. It’s intelligent and sensible. It’s raw without being gratuitous. The acting is quite good. About the only problem I had with the movie was one aspect of the main character’s backstory. It’s not a major gripe, and it’s certainly not a spoiler, but I’ll hold my tongue until the adaptation is released and we’ve all had a chance to evaluate the movie as a whole.

    1. Quite right Royal.

I’m a Fincher fan, but there’s simply no need (beyond simple greed..) to (re-)make these films.
The original Swedish releases were brilliant, though, perhaps to complex and nuanced for a subtitle-challenged North American audience….

  5. I’m still wondering why they’re remaking this movie so soon after the original. I guess the obvious answer is simply because they can make money from people who have not seen the original. I still feel it’s unnecessary. If you’re a fan of the books wouldn’t you have seen the original movies?

    1. The original was not in english. This is being adapted so that the North American market can see a take on the popular franchise from Sweeden. Its more accurate to call this an English Language adaptation than a remake, though both terms are still appropriate.

If the market would be more receptive to foreign language films, they would have just released it here as is.

And there are plenty of people who are fans of a book that wont see the movie, and vice versa. Fans of the Swedish version are likely to want to see how this stacks up too.

      1. I’m a little confused. Is this the FIRST of the English language “remakes” ? The entire Swedish trilogy is out, and they are just now putting out the American version?

  6. at the beginning of the trailer i was really pumped but then it turned weird
showing that thing in the shower and saying it was a “feel bad movie” seemed a bit out of place
ill watch this because the original was supposed to be really good

  7. I agree Rodney. I’m the guy who turns to the person next to me at the theater and says, “ooh, that looks good” at almost every trailer, but this one isn’t really doing anything for me. I love David Fincher though, so I’ll still see it. Hopefully it will be a little more old school Fincher, along the lines of the Game, Seven and Fight Club. His more recent stuff hasn’t been as impactful on me. Even counting the Social Network.
