Some of us hang on every word spoken by those behind the scenes of our favorite Marvel movies, and read into every animated release as a testing ground for feature films. One character, besides Ant-Man, that has been repeatedly mentioned for a feature film treatment is that of the character Dr. Stephen Strange and today we learn that an executive at Marvel studios, Kevin Feige, still has this character in mind post-avengers.

The Avengers is the next big step. Once all these characters come together, it’s the culmination of all that has come before. It launches a new era and a new time in the history of our films. Not only will it be the first film that our new home studio, Disney, will be distributing, but it will also renew each of these characters and launch them into their own franchises, starting with the second film to be released by Disney, Iron Man 3……Thor will go off into a new adventure, and Captain America will continue to explore the modern world in another film of his own. We hope that holds true for the characters appearing in that film – Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the spy organization, S.H.I.E.L.D. – all of whom are more than worthy and capable of carrying their own films. And, we’ve got a lot of other characters we’re prepping and getting ready for film debuts: the world of martial arts, these great cosmic space fantasies, Dr. Strange, and the magic side of the Marvel Universe. There are many, many stories to be mined.
Hmm, looks like he also clarified the direction of the next Captain America movie in addition to name dropping Dr. Strange. He also mentioned martial arts and cosmic space fantasies which immediately brings to mind the adventures of Iron Fist, the Inhumans, and possibly the Black Panther. There’s a lot of elbow room for speculation in his statements but I’m really getting the impression that they have every intention of busting the Marvel universe wide open and letting it spill all over the silver screen. I for one think that it’s about time!
doctor strange would make an awsome movie so would the black panther
i would like marvel to reboot the blade series as well and would also like to see a Namor the sub mariner movie.
I think Hawkeye will get his own spinoff movie before Green Arrow does. I wonder why DC/Warner Bros isn’t thinking about making a Green Arrow movie.
I’d imagine they’d hold back on green arrow because green hornet was just out and green lanterns out now soon.
The general public may get confused
ATTENTION DC COMICS:
This is how it’s done!
That is all.
Sincerely,

Gotta say some of the least well used small hero (or anti hero) characters came out of Spiderman – they being Cloak and Dagger. Would very much like to see a very dark film with those two.
Yo I would love me some Iron Fist and some Michael Jai White as Luke Cage, GET ME SOME HEROES FOR HIRE!!
F YEAH! that’s what im talkin’ bout.
MJW is a lock (if there smart)
Dr. Strange is another I’m dying to see fleshed out on screen.
Johnny Depp in the part!
Nothing we don’t already know…post ‘Avengers’ we know of the sequels to Cap (the writers could still have a flashback to WWII),Iron Man…the possible spinoffs of Nick Fury (SHIELD), Black Widow (with or without Hawkeye)…plans for Iron Fist, Ant-Man and T’Chilla. The Inhumans announcement was last month.
Of those not previously seen in live action, I’m going to give more credence to T’Chilla (Panther) and Doctor Strange. Especially the latter- ever since The Mouse picked up Marvel, I could see this one happening. For a long time I thought someone like David Cronenberg or David Lynch might do it, y’know, get all surreal and all—but ever since the Marvel sale I’m thinking more Jon Turteltaub.
No…don’t ask why I would think that.
I still want my Deathlok flick and Hulk 2 anyway.
I will go out on alimb and say Dr. Stranges story will be the best by far.
hahaha come on bro, unless your a psychic, thats a crazy statement! We have no idea what the film will be like!
However, if you ARE a psychic, you got any more predictions? hah
I’m glad they are doing this. There is no reason why the expansive Marvel Universe can’t exist on film. From the Mystical, to Sci Fi, to Space opera, these are stories that could be combined to introduce concepts and stories to the audience that haven’t been attempted before. The Eternals, the Negative zone, The Celestials and all that could be brought to life. Thor could go along way toward opening the way for these other concepts.
