Kristin Stewart Passes on Lois Lane

Just days after announcing Henry Cavill as Superman, insiders are revealing Kristin Stewart passed on the opportunity to play Lois Lane.

New York Daily News reports:

The source says the intense-eyed actress, whose rumored involvement with “Twilight” co-star Robert Pattinson set the media swooning, was “caught off guard” by the success of that film franchise and wasn’t ready to leap into a similar situation just yet. Instead, the source said, Stewart professed an interest in “smaller, independent films.” (Stewart’s spokeswoman said only that she “did not read for the part” and declined to elaborate.)

Legitimate reasons, perhaps, but our source says Snyder was left feeling “slighted” by Stewart and that the awkward beauty had “wasted his time.” Snyder, whose résumé includes “300,” is also reportedly considering Jessica Biel, “Glee’s” Dianna Agron, Rachel McAdams, Malin Akerman and Mila Kunis for the role of Lane. (On Sunday, Warner Bros. said that Brit Henry Cavill, best known for his role as Charles Brandon, First Duke of Suffolk, in Showtime’s “The Tudors,” would play Superman (and alter ego Clark Kent.)

Not sure why Snyder left feeling slighted. She just did the film a huge favor, in my opinion…

Given the alternative choices, any names jump out as favorites?

  1. Kristin passed on the role because she could. While she is not to everyones taste, she has acquired a certain “coolness” playing the lover of a vampire. Vampires are hot.
Superheroes are not. Lois Lane might be good looking but she’s not cool. Therefore there’s no way Mila/Olivia will play the role.

    1. Sorry, even with Twilight Kristen is hardly so “on top” that she would turn down iconic roles like Lois Lane.

It is likely either she never was offered the role, or she chose not to because even she could see how terrible a match this was.

And consider how many “cool” superhero love interests there have been? Natalie Portman for Thor, Gwenenth Paltrow and almost Scarlett Johanssen for Iron Man, Jennifer Connley and Liv Tyler for Hulk.

Every superhero on film or TV gets a hot love interest and they are all cooler than any insecure chick falling for some emo vampire.

Kristen is what she is, but she’s not passing on roles because they are beneath her.

  2. Hmmm… I’m only suggesting this because I have a TOTAL crush on her, but zooey deschanel, if i was superman, she could be my Lois.

(If my girlfriend reads this… feck you, you talk bout hot dudes enough! :P)

  3. Kristin is cute and all (I thought she was hot BEFORE Twilight) but she doesn’t have the Lois look. It’s not enough to look good to play the part of certain characters. It’s like saying Seth Rogen should be Riddler because he’s funny.

  4. I think Kate Bosworth was the worst part of Returns and it doesn’t give me much confidence in the film to hear that they would seriously consider having Stewart play Lois Lane.

  5. I thought this would be a story of Clark Traveling the world. If that is the case, do they need a lois?

Aside from that I have no idea in what Snyder would have saw in Kristin Stewart, for Lois anyway.

    1. The Dirk-man got me all fired up w/ Wilde.

      Why Not? (maybee too pretty?)

M.Kidder always gave me a “Smells like cigarettes” kinda vibe.

      (sharing too much?)

      1. Kidder is my ultimate example of perspective. I used to think she was so attractive when I watched it as a kid.

        I don’t know what I was thinking.

But then I was also 6 when the first Superman film came out (8 when the sequel hit) so I thought the unnamed princess in Never Ending Story was pretty hot too.

      2. Kidder is NOT hot anymore. I admit some of her images from the 70s were quite fetching in her own charming way, but as the years went on, not so much.

I personally think Superman 3’s Lana Lang (and eventually Smallville’s Martha Kent) Annette O’Toole is even more attractive now than she was back then.

        Kidder did not hold up.

      3. Yeah smoking and booze will do that to you. Like Rodney said, Kidder was hot back when you were watching her as a kid. The first boob’s I ever saw on screen were her’s when she played the wife in Amityville Horror. Man was she hot! Still have fond memories of that day. I wish she would have taken care of herself better because I think she’d still be in demand today as an actress if she had.

      1. I was 7 when it came out and your right Rod, back then she looked attractive, but after many viewings over the years she gave me a “Mom” feeling and the “Cigarette vibe” (maybee she smoked in the flick?-going off memory.)

But Shit was that a great film!

      2. She does smoke in the movie, which of course Kent tells her in his innocent Kansas farmboy way that it isn’t healthy. But it was the late 70s and smoking was so present that it didn’t seem out of place.

But clearly the years (and cigarettes) were not kind on her, and she got all unappealing.

  6. Kunis is overratted and too small for the role.
she’s cool and all, but who are we kidding?……really!

after watching Book of Eli, did anyone really think she could fight off the baddies w/ Denzels Dagger?…….NOPE!

Black Swan was a great performance………By Natalie Portman!

      1. Probally doesn’t, but she could definitly pass as a hobbit.

        cute/sexy?-oh yeah!

Just doesnt scream Louis Lane to me.

McAdams, Wilde(flavor of the year),Hathaway (not happening)

those are easy sells-just dont want another miscast like last time.

and keep Parker Posey away from the set please!

  7. Good. She would make a terrible Lois Lane. Rachel Mcadams would be the ideal fit for the role, I could also see Malin Ackerman or Mila Kunis. Those would be my top 3 in order.

    1. Sorry, I know that’s completely unnecessary, but I think those three words can sum up the rationalization and the lack there of in the minds of people to make good choices.
