2010 Razzie Award Nominees Announced

With only a tiny bit more credibility than the MTV Movie Awards, the Razzies represent the top honours of hate, the best of the bile, and appeals most to those people who just can’t be happy that someone else might have liked a movie that they hate.

Still, they are kind of fun to look at just to see who “wins” these awards of the Worst of everything in Hollywood.

A lot of the choices seem to line up with the knee jerk distaste for anything that is very popular in smaller demographics. Even the best movie in the world will have people who don’t like it, and those movies that are popular and appeal to a certain group tend to be the target of the most baseless hate.

I am not a fan of Twilight, but I don’t hate it. It has some merit in originality and undeniably appeals to a certain demographic. That someone might not be in that demographic is irrelevant, and while the films may not be well made they are hardly “the worst”. I am also not a fan of Sex and the City, but I don’t fall into their target demographic because I have a penis. However, when even the die hard fantatical zealots that flock to the sequel are saying that the film is aweful, it might be deserving of a Razzie.

I do like that there is a category for “Mis-Use of 3D” as again, a lot of the 3D craze tends to be pointed at movies that didn’t benefit or need to be in 3D and the increased ticket cost involved. And there is some clever humour when attacking screen couples and ensembles when they poke at Josh Brolin’s face and Megan Fox’s accent in Jonah Hex.

But people love to hate. Its easy.

“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” – Yoda.

    1. Pattinson was good in Harry Potter and the critics were generally surprised by him in Remember Me. The Razzies just love to bag on him because it is so trendy to bash on Twilight, so they hate on anything he does.

Razzies build their entire popularity around the reactions of hate, and they always nominate bad and popular actors alike just to get a rise out of people.

You dont have to like Pattinson at all, but his presence on this list is hardly earned. they just want the ratings and attention that his name will bring to the list.

    2. Also “pat” or “sonia” or whatever other name you want to post under … creating multiple posts to try and endorse your own opinion gets you deleted.

I left one comment up because it was the same as the rest of your comments.

  1. Jessica Alba wasn’t bad in The Killer Inside Me. As far Machete goes? It’s a campy performance but that was what was intended for everyone in that film.

  2. I agree with pretty much everything on here, but they went a little too far with Pattinson for ‘Remember Me.’ Say what you want about the movie itself, but his performance wasn’t bad at all. Same stuff last year with Sandra Bullock winning ‘Worst Actress’ for ‘All About Steve’– not justified at all.

    1. Hey man nobody in their right mind could say grown-ups would win ANY award but Razzie is a bit harsh….That shit was funny! and poor Rod always gets shit on. his “Ave Maria” was sublime.:)

They are however right on the money with Bounty Hunter though AND jESSICA aLBA!

  3. Who decides the nomination for this?

It seems that they only target 5-7 movies and just nominate them over and or again… I really can’t understand the twilight-hate… I really really really don’t like them (number 1 was ok) but I can’t really say that they were the worst movies made last year…

  4. I do think they are picking on Twilight a bit mucch. New Moon I thought wasn’t great, but it was far from bad. One thing I notice is while they include other performaces of the past year, they are wise in *not* including ‘The Runaways’ (which starred Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning) because it would seem out of place.

From what I see here, the three worst films f 2010 are present- Jonah Hex, Last Airbender and Bouty Hunters- are present, so I don’t bitch about the list too much.
