Stephanie Meyer doesnt want Two Breaking Dawn Films

So because they think that Twilight’s last book is like Harry Potter’s last book they want to break the film into two parts. You know, for artistic integrity, and not at all to rake in a double paycheque.

Well it seems that Twilight scribe Stephanie Meyers thinks that might not be a good idea. Unfortunately for the studio, she’s the one in charge.

Ace Showbiz says:

Believing that double the work means double the money, Summit wants to split “Breaking Dawn” into two parts. Meanwhile, author of “Twilight Saga” novels Stephenie Meyer, who is said having a different agenda, reportedly does not give her consent to the studio’s plan.

“Stephenie is calling the shots and she still can’t decide whether or not [making two movies] is the right thing to do creatively,” an insider told the site. “Meyer isn’t in it for the fame. She hates doing press, and she doesn’t want to be recognized for anything other than her work, so what’s her incentive to drag [the book] out?”

Harry Potter’s last film would be a mess if they had to cram all that story into one movie, however in the case of Twilight, they will be hard pressed to convince me that there even needs to be ONE film for Breaking Dawn.

Let me first say that I didn’t mind the Twilight series. I read it. I didn’t hate it. And there were parts of it I did enjoy. Bella is a refreshingly realistic teenage girl. Completely unreasonable and emotionally unstable.

I am going to tread on potential spoilers here so stop reading if you haven’t read the fourth book yet. Or if you are enjoying the series, I can sum it up for you and save you the time.

Anyways, the fourth book was a waste. Its the longest epilogue to a story I have ever read. Honestly, the entire content of the 4th book could be summed up in one chapter at the end of the third. It didn’t need to happen.

And what DOES happen in the book is that Bella gets married to Eddie (sorry Team Jacob), she becomes a vampire, has a halfbreed vampire baby and the Volturi show up intent on killing her and it. Bella’s new extended family stands off to support her giving the Volturi reason to pause, and they convince them that the baby isn’t a threat to vampire life.

Happily ever after. No action, no drama, nothing.

Roll Credits.

This should end at the action packed throwdown at the end of the third book, and show this all during the credits.

  1. i understand why she dosen’t but i belive she should because there are to many major scence to fit into a 2 hour movie and i belive it won’t do the book justice if it isn’t in two movies.

    1. I dare to ask if you have even READ the book.

There is nothing in this book that will justify this being two movies. Its the longest most drawn out afterthought in literary history.

This story could easily have been summed up in an extra chapter in the third book.

  2. Well, I think Summit could make it into a decent movie if they left it at one movie, and added a little more action, which could easily be done. I agree that some of the parts of the book would be hard to translate on screen. I would like to see Stephanie publish Midnight Sun,just because I dont like leaving a book unfinished, I have already read the draft.

  3. I really hope Breaking Dawn is never made into a movie – the 4th book was by far the worst of the series and bringing it to the screen would make it even more laughable than the movie version of New Moon (and I’m still recovering from just how terrible that movie was). Breaking Dawn is completely unstranslatable to the screen. Most of the plot was ridiculous, Renesmee was just so…..awful…an addition on so many levels and having Jacob imprint on a baby (!!!!!) could only be even more gag-worthy on the screen than it is in the book. There is no way Breaking Dawn could ever be made into a good movie – simply because the book is so very bad. Stefenie Meyer would do herself a diservice if she allowed the film to proceed as it would expose her as a bad writer – and I don’t think she is – I just think she got way too carried away with the whole Twilight mania and completely lost persepective on her original vision. Please no Breaking Dawn movie.

  4. I’ll do meyer one better, I don’t want it made into one film. In fact, I think they should stop production on Eclipse right now. New Moon was the most god awful, boring, stupid piece of cinematic feces I’ve ever witnessed. My eyes were about to burn off Indiana Jones-style.

    1. “One better”? Because you are the first Twhater to come up with that clever attack right?

I called this brainchild of a comment in my last Twilight post but figured I didn’t have to say it again in this one. Maybe I should have.

  5. I haven’t read any of them (my wife did) but didn’t I read somewhere that Meyer may write a fifth? I honestly don’t remember where I got this – it could be a complete misunderstanding.

  6. I agree that the fourth book would be a rather pointless movie. The baby will be very difficult to make believeable and the story is rather slow for a film let alone two. I am a huge fan of the books and films but if they make the fourth book into one, let alone two filsm it may leave a sour taste in many mouths. I believe they should have or should do a reshoot and end the thirs movie with the wedding and possibly elude to bella becoming a vamp.

  7. I think they ruined the next movie with one of their trailers I saw when watching a different movie. the trailer lasted about 2 minutes, but when you summed it up at the end was exactly how the trailer went.

  8. Honestly, the entire Twilight “Saga” could be condensed into one movie, without it feeling rushed, with even the teeniest bit of artistic license. In the few years the plots take place in, there’s so little action that it could all easily fit into the standard Hollywood movie. Honestly, doing so would probably be the only way non teeny-bopper girls (and secretly some of their mothers) would actually enjoy the franchise.

Stepheny Meyer has to be one of the worst, least-interesting authors I’ve ever read. I can’t fathom how her books ever rose to such fame within the segment of the population who should be most offended by her anti-feminist BS.

  9. Wow.

Its simple! If a book is good then the movie should be like the book! (Harry Potter)

If a book sucks, they should adapt it so the movie is good! (Breaking Dawn)

NO SHIT Meyer doesnt want it changed, she thought her book was awesome, she WROTE it. but it wasnt, it lacked action and the ending was a let down.

Summit is doing something great, theyre adapting the last one so it doesnt have the flaws Rodney pointed out.
Its necessary because Breaking Dawn wasnt great.
In Harry Potter’s case, it was a MISTAKE to make so many changes, they should have kept it closer to the book, which is why those movies are pure trash.

    Rodney
Did you find it necessary to spoil the 4th movie for everyone who hasnt read the books?

    1. Nah I know, and its okay…
i just think that “It lacked action, ending sucked, hopefully theyll change these things”
woulda been a tad better then “Bella marries Edward! She becomes vampire! Baby! ~Fin~ ”

Which was by far, the worlds BIGGEST spoiler i have ever read, i mean we’re nowhere close to the film, and that spoiler was MASSIVE. Just massive. But it was funny though lol

I mean i dont care, i just think it may have been a little nyeh towards people who havent read the books

      1. Which was after my warning of a spoiler.

I dont know what you are getting at. You call me out for a spoiler, (that I warned was coming) then illustrate that I did in fact utter a blatant spoiler?

It wasn’t directed at the people who haven’t read the books. In fact, I directed THOSE people not to read past my spoiler alert.

      2. Im just saying a little less spoiler would go well with that stew, thats all. Your point was made clear without it =]
If the person read the book, theyll understand it, if he/she didnt, well she wasnt supposed to be reading it because of your spoiler alert.

And Twilight isnt an action series, if it ends at the 3rd one at the action part then whats the point?

      1. And they don’t have to show it in its gory detail. Easily represented without showing it happen.

Childbirth itself is pretty graphic (even without the baby eating its way out) but lots of films do it without getting an R

      2. Agreed it wouldn’t have to be rated R the sex scenes in the book were fade to black mildly suggestive. And that birth scene would not have to be totally graphic.

  10. I agree completely. Even one Breaking Dawn film is hardly necessary. I had no great love for the series in general but the fourth book was the worst by far.

  11. Well i most likely alone, buuut BD isn’t all that bad to me.Annoyance came from knowing bellas thoughts during relations with edward. Also the rush to end the book with making bella the perfect vampire, low to almost no bloodlust.I also really enjoyed the jacob chapters. As for the ending battle it was a total letdown, but Stephanies realistic point made sense,if it had taken place many vamps possibly even some of the cullens or newfound faves(benjamin, garret),would have been lost. Also a battle of wit shows whos the smarter team. But honestly this film shouldn’t be made into two,or even made.

  12. LoL! Rodney, you are so right about the 4th book! I’m having a heck of a time seeing how it will make a decent movie let alone two…breaking it up into two movies is insane and the only fans who want this are irrational and think Twilight is the best movie ever.

    1. Meli, i know you read the books so i dont mind telling you this

Im guessing the first one ends in a huge fight between Jacob’s pack and Sam’s pack, right after theyre divided because of Bella’s poor decision making. Ending with Alice’s prediction.

The second one would be about Bellas book, in which the Cullens prepare and gather before the Vulturi come, and im guessing at the end a fight would erupt between the two groups.
