Sneak Peek at Green Lantern Trailer Online

The Tubes of You have revealed the trailler preview for the trailer that is coming out Tuesday for Green Lantern and it has me worried…

What has me worried here is that even though this is just a peek at the trailer, and the trailer is just a peek at the movie, it really feels like my biggest concern about Green Lantern is coming to a big horrifying blemish on the film.

Reynolds didn’t park the snark.

The visuals look aptly amazing and like most trailers its likely not the final product. Visually I am all about this movie. My big worry has always been that Reynolds has his own flavour of snarky wit that works well for him. I have seen movies where he DOESN’T go for the wit and Reynolds has proven he deserves the rash of film offers that flood his mailbox.

But while Hal was a cocky test pilot, I held my breath and hoped that using Reynolds didn’t mean they were going to go for his standard comedic presence.

And just from the tiny bits we are seeing here, it looks like he didn’t Park the Snark.

I am conflicted, because the film looks amazing visually, and I know Reynolds is capable of more, but I don’t know if they have done it.

Time will tell if these are just moments of his sarcastic charm.

In the mean time, check out Kilowog. C’mon… that looks awesome!!

  1. This was a nightmare from the start. I wrote off the movie (as I did Wolverine, as I will Deadpool) right from the start. Apparently, Hollywood studios have forgotten two important things about Ryan Reynolds: He’s universally terrible in action movies… and the guy can’t act. He’s fine for rom-coms and B-movie comedies where he’s playing himself, but that’s just about it. This movie is going to be terrible.

  2. I’m just fine with Ryan Reynolds, and I really gotta see more of the movie to really see if he’s being more of the same old sarcastic Reynolds (not that I think there’s anything wrong with that)
But I do NOT like his suit!!! I’m hoping that it’s not finished yet, but it just looks *OFF*. As in, I’m *aware* that it’s CGI; It just looks so out of place!! I’m hoping that it’ll look better once we get a full trailer (or by the time the movie comes out :/ )

  3. I hope WB / DC Comics/ director Martin Campbell/ screenwriter Greg Berlanti know what they’re doing on this movie. I really hope it won’t turn into a jokey superhero film that looks good visually , but none of the flavor that Geoff Johns’ have done for the comics. What made Green Lantern the monster success that it is now is because of Geoff Johns’ writing and Ethan Van Sciver’s art.

  4. Perhaps they’re not making the mistake of showing us all the funny parts so that we actually have something to talk about (aside from the visuals, of course) when we leave the theater.

  5. Actually the only problem I have with this sneak peek is is the costume. It does seem a little out of proportion!

However I get the feeling the one-liners will just be used during down-time in the movie, one on one dialoge scenes. The locker-room banter seems very similar to the Will Smith & Harry Jr./Jeff Goldblum scenes in Independence Day. Still not gonna judge till I see the full trailer, but you gotta luv Kilowog!!!!

  6. I don’t know about this. Something about the suit doesn’t look right. I can’t really put my finger on it, but it just looks off. The waist and rib cage area look out of proportion. I agree with you Rodney. While I like Reynolds as an actor and I’d hoped they tuned down his snarkiness. Hall Jordan is cocky, yes, but cocky and snarky are two different things. The Green Lantern should not come off as a wise cracker. He is not Spiderman. There’s a thought, Reynolds would be perfect as an adult Peter Parker/Spiderman. Lastly, am I the only one that thought “Greatest American Hero” when it showed him shaky in flight, like he was just learning?

  7. I don’t like this at all. The suit looks like crap and so does the helicopter scene. It just doesn’t look right and the mask just looks stupid. Reynolds playing Reynold, hopefully they are going to bridge his lighter personality with him becoming more serious as movie and the evil threat comes to light. I just don’t like the tone of the film at the moment. I’ll watch it on DVD not at the movies.

    1. I agree, everything seems to light but this is marketing and they don’t market those things for the fans but for the casual moviegoers.
Since they have already greenlighted the second movie and said this was written as a trilogy my guess is they will start “small” in this one. Still, not a big fan of the clip either.
I was much more excited to see the latest batch of Captian America photos than this thing and I don’t even care about Cap. We’ll see….

    1. That is the very definition of the word ACTOR… using the same person to play different roles.

And I am hoping they only showed glimpses that show his cocky side, that being said, I dont think he was acting at all like Deadpool.

      1. Besides hid did like 3 scenes as deadpool (talking)which was what?….3 total minutes of dialouge? then they sealed his mouth shut (Hey! Maybee they were on to something)

        thats what I’m thinkin’

      2. But Reynolds can’t act.

Show me one movie where Reynolds has to play serious and does it successfully, or be an action hero and does it convincingly? He was terrible in Blade and even worse in Wolverine.

      3. You need to watch more Reynolds films. The guy can clearly act and act well. When he pulls back on the snarky sarcasm the guy can hit it out of the park.

        Buried? Go see it.

Paperman? School of Life? All great.

    1. Apparently the power of humanity that will save the universe is to be a snarky asshole. Good thing there are plenty of them to go around we are safe.

This was my fear of Evans being Captain America but it looks like that is safe. Too bad the director didn’t reel in Reynolds because this looks like Van Wilder in Space (only less boobies).

      1. We have seen 4 seconds of his talking. I am hoping its less snark and more of a serious Hal. Jordan did have a cocky side as he was a fearless test pilot.

I am waiting until we see a full trailer and ultimately the film itself before I throw the baby out with the bathwater.
