With Scream 4 staging itself as a new start to a second trilogy of Scream movies, and many of the surviving cast returning, it seemed like there wouldnt be any casting news. But there was still one thing missing. Victims.
Likely adding to that list with be Twilight prognasticator Ashley Greene as Sidney’s cousin, and Hayden Panettiere needs a job now, so she gets to play Greene’s BFF.
Wes Craven has offered the lead to Ashley Greene as well as supporting roles to some other familiar faces.
Greene has been approached to play Jill, the cousin to Neve Campbell’s Sidney. Hayden Panettiere has also been approached to play a film geek and best friend to Jill.
I still predict that Sidney will be the killer, finally cracking under the severe paranoia, and it will be up to the new fresh younger faces they introduce to carry on the franchise.
I don’t think all the old cast will end up dead, but I think it is important that they move on with a new story if they want to make this a new trilogy.
Greene is so hot in media right now with her contract negotiations for Twilight and her impending unemployment after the Twilight train is pulling into the station, so she is moving on with something new. And now that Heroes is over Hayden can move on too.
They just can’t make Hayden the killer, because it will be a dead giveaway if Ghostface is 5 ft tall.
Let me guess, hayden is gonna play a cheerleader.
This looks like their following the remake trend. Where the killer plans to remake the first incident, cause if you notice, the archetype in casting seems to be like the first movie all over again.

With Heroes recently getting the ax this seems to have come along at the right time. And if she does get this film geek role (I imagine it will be like Jamie Kennedy from the first Scream) this will give her the chance to do something different (she can’t be a super cheerleader forever).
I fully agree that this needs to start a new story instead of getting in a Friday the 13th like rut where the story is always “The killer comes back….one more time”. And I’m with you on making Sidney the killer after having a major breakdown.
I agree with you 100% on haydens direction to this movie. I am going to miss heroes and there is something about hayden that im attracted to and seeing her in this is going to make me wanna see it that much more.

Pannttiere’s first major role was in Heroes and now that her name is out there she is at a crucial point in her career where she needs to avoid being typecast. There are a lot of actors/actresses that get a breakout role, fall into that character, and then basically become a one trick pony or one hit wonder.
