We have already seen the logo art for Cars 2 which looks to have simply added an appropriately styled 2 on the original name plate. I made the following image for a post about Cars 2 from August ’09, before they revealed a logo:
And we know Cars 2 is going to involve the World Prix and Lightning McQueen and his pit crew tour the world, so the teaser poster isn’t teasing much more than what we already know.
I know Cars is not the fan favourite among the international friends, but it is Pixar’s second most marketed franchise, so I can understand why they went for this one when considering which of their properties to sequel.
I am waiting for a trailer.

If only we were getting a sequel to a *good* Pixar movie (and there’s so many to choose from!).
Cars is all about the merchandising, and I guess it makes business sense, but I think the most obvious choice for a sequel, from a fan perspective, would have to be The Incredibles. And I have to think that could sell a few kids’ lunchboxes, too.

While I understand the appeal of Cars, I dug it the least of all Pixar’s work behind Bugs Life.
