The classic Day of the Triffids has been adapted a few times but the first attempt by a Hollywood studio will be coming at the hands of Sam Raimi.
Fortunately, it looks like (after a bidding war where Mandate came out on top) Sam Raimi is going to have a go at it. Yes, there’s a subtlety to it all that Raimi will have trouble finding while a tree rapes a woman, but overall the guy is a talented filmmaker who certainly has passion for the genre and the title itself.
While Raimi hasn’t always come out smelling like roses, he does do some really great work.
I am looking forward to seeing him adapt this classic creature feature where a massive meteor event leaves much of the world blinded, and a small group attempts to come together to create a commune of survivors out in the country. The Triffids are a three legged sentient plant creature that have been harvested by humans for their oils, and when mankind is vulnerable the agressive plants take over.

Raimi/Horror = Always Camp
This could be a fun remake. Not sure if the approach would be campy or more serious, not sure which approach would be even be best … I’m kinda leanin’ toward campy.
