DVD Review #1 Cheerleader Camp

Thanks for checking out our DVD Review of #1 Cheerleader Camp by Asylum Films

Genre: Sexploitation Comedy
Directed by: Mark Quod
Staring: Charlene Tilton, Seth Cassel, Jay Gillespie, Bunch of Girls
Released: July 27, 2010

THE GENERAL IDEA

A pair of horny college guys get summer jobs at a sexy cheerleader camp.

I’d like to say there is more to the plot than that. But that’s pretty much it.

THE GOOD

The pace is set quick with the opening credits consisting of topless cheerleaders on a trampoline. Not kidding. And half the movie is slow motion bouncing or showering. And as if the bevvy of naked cheerleaderness wasn’t enough they recruit some strippers to help (of course). Then more slow motion bouncing, an attempt at some depth that you don’t care about and then back to the slow motion bouncy.

THE BAD

There is no plot to speak of. Ok, there is a competition for the underdogs to try and win but thats as close as it gets. The acting is terrible. Its not even all that funny. The goofball pervert is over the top and shameless about masturbating. If he was funny it might be amusing, but something about Seth Rogen saying it makes it crude funny, and this guy says it and its obnoxious.

The big kicker here? When they actually get to the big cheerleading contest, they are not even good. Not even tv convincing. Just proving they dont care about the whole plot thing. Not that I expected them to.

And Charlene Tilton makes a cameo appearance for no reason whatsoever.

OVERALL

This is a throwback to sexploitation films like Ski School and various other gratuitous nudity films. Its all it is. There are topless girls in this and some crude attempts at comedy that just get in the way of more gratuitous nudity.

I give #1 Cheerleader Camp a 1 out of 10 because at least most of the girls are attractive. Mind you, for every reason this movie is terrible is exactly why you are watching it right?

  1. Do you think the person/people that wrote this were watching The Replacements when the thought hit them? LOL

Rent this or go to an actual strip club? Hmmmm… I think I’ll spend my money on beers and lap dances. ;)

  2. Thanks for explaining why you reviewed this.

Although this site is about having an opinion, I was surprised you would stoop so low as to review a film that the only effort the studio seems to have made with the whole project was to send the DVD copy to this site.

      1. No, the PR behind these releases are just about awareness. If they emotionally invested themselves in positive or negative reviews, they would go mad with guilt I am sure.

They just like to know its up, and they move on with their day.

      1. Fair enough.

I just find it odd that you took the time to review this drivel instead of Machete or The American. No disrespect intended, I just like reading your reviews, but not for crap like this.
