Angelina Jolie Defies Gravity

Gravity, scripted by director Alfonso Cuarón, is about two characters, a team leader (Downey Jr.) and a female lead, who get stranded in space after their space station explodes, killing the remainder of their team. It’s been described as Castaway set in space. Warner Bro., was pushing hard to get Angelina Jolie for the female lead. Apparently, Jolie has decided to pass on it.
ScreenRant reports:
According to Deadline, Angelina Jolie has passed on the lead role in Alfonso Cuarón’s 3D film Gravity (co-starring Robert Downey Jr.). Despite being offered a mountain of cash and the opportunity to work with one of the greatest mainstream directors alive today, Jolie is too busy prepping her directorial debut, a Bosnian love story circa 1990-something.
Damn. Angelina Jolie would’ve rocked this one. I believe she would’ve done a great job carrying the film by herself a la Castaway. Even better, the combination of Jolie and Downey Jr. on screen, would’ve been awesome. Oh well, we’ll see who gets this part soon.
Do you think that Jolie made a good move here? Who would you cast for this? Do you like Cuarón’s films?

I like sci-fi, but this doesn’t sound like an interesting movie although I think they could be good on screen together.
She doesn’t have enough wit to hang with him. Yeah she is eye candy and a good drama actor but i find her dry in roles that aren’t about a broken character
I’m glad she passed on the role. Downey Jr. and Jolie have two very different bodies of work behind them. Placing these two actors opposite one another seems like an odd juxtaposition. I’d like to see a strong second fiddle next to Downey Jr. in this role. Similar to what we saw with Howard/Cheatam in Iron Man/2.
I suppose what I’m saying is that for me, Jolie would have been too powerful a screen presence, and would have distracted from the storyline.
It’s her Lips……not her
Emily Blunt or The hot skinny chick with no breasts but a lovely face from Pirates should suffice
Emily Blunt? I like it. Astronaut women tend to be heavier set than Blunt, and a LOT heavier than Jolie, but I’ll suspend my disbelief to see Blunt in this role.
That pic of Jolie at the top is making my pants defy gravity…..
not really sure about Angelina. But it doesn’t matter who gets the part. I will still be anticipating this film. Cuaron is great and Children of Men is one of my all-time favorite films.
I loved Children of men
