Rio is an animated feature from Blue Sky, the same people who did the Ice Age movies, and centers on a rare Macaw named Blu who thinks he is the last of his kind. When he finds out there is a female in Rio de Janero, he sets out to find her – but when he does, they hate each other.
Not sure why the bird is chained to another bird, but the animation looks just like what I would have expected from BlueSky. The characters look interesting enough and should make for a decent film.
The plot sounds a little similar to Newt, the recently scrapped Pixar film that would have the last male blue newt meeting the last female blue newt, and hilarity ensues as they struggle with the survival of their kind and the fact that they don’t like each other.
I wonder if that is why it got canned?
That movie looks like a steaming pile of crap. Nothing in that trailer made me want to see it. It looks like a bad rehash of better animated movies.
It is pretty though.
PS – Has George Lopez taken over Cheech’s role of token Hispanic voice in EVERY animated movie?
Nice and colorful, a step up from the white landscapes of “Ice Age”.
