Twilight Breaking Dawn Still has No Director

Still looking for a Director to handle Twilight’s anticlimactic 4th chapter Breaking Dawn, speculated to be filmed at once but released as two films, Summit is now rumoured to have approached Sofia Coppola, Gus Van Sant and Bill Condon.

Entertainment Weekly says:

Sources tell EW that the studio has reached out to at least three top-notch directors, including Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation), Gus Van Sant (Milk), and Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) to gauge their interest in what is likely to be two movies. (Van Sant’s reps confirmed that he’s been approached, but Coppola and Condon’s people didn’t return phone calls by press time. Summit declined to comment.)

No decisions are likely to be made until the studio delivers screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg’s detailed outline to the directors. That should happen sometime next week.

Still unconfirmed whether it will be in two films, but the sound of money trucks backing up to their door will likely convince them of the pocketbook raping this emo-epic film will encourage, they still don’t have a director.

I don’t have an opinion on any of these directors in relation to Twilight as it seems left field for any of them. Rumour had it that they were still courting Chris Weitz, who had his sights set on another film.

They might as well ask Martin Scorses.

Well, it never hurts to act, but wow, talk about reaching high especially for Breaking Dawn. I think I’d fall over in my chair if Sophia or Gus signed on. I hope they don’t make it two movies…such a mistake, but then again, what do I care? I don’t plan on watching another Twilight after Eclipse …unless it has an insanely good trailer. LoL Oh, and the discussions of 3D? Really? I can’t even comment.

I’ll direct it. All they gotta do is ask me.

If anyone has read it this easily the worst in the series. Nothing significant happens in the book so why drag it out into two more stories.

Why not just do the world a favor and not make the movie? That would be great.

    Whats Coppola been doing lately?

all I can remember her doing was that Kirsten D. period piece (Mary Anntoinette? or something)and being confused as to why she got the nom for Lost in Translation. (Murray was great as always but an Oscar for directing?).

    Have I been sleeping?

I agree. People like her and Jason Reitman are getting praise and being called two of the best directors alive right now. I don’t agree, if there are still making great films after a few more, I’d say something along the lines. But as of now, coppola and reitman are 2/3 with me. I hated Marie Antoinette from coppola and I hated Juno from reitman. I don’t think coppola has proven her chops just yet, but she was definitely getting there. She should make something again soon.
