Eat Pray Love Trailer Online

Julia Roberts just oozes with appeal. She is a beautiful woman, a bold presence and her greatest trait isn’t that goose laughter… its her vulnerability. And that is why I want to see this movie.

Based on a true story (Based on the memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert) about a woman on a world tour of self discovery, Eat Pray Love follows a woman as she tries to figure out what is wrong with her life, if anything.

Hell, even in the trailer she can make my sympathetic to her struggles. This looks touching.

What did Chandler say? “Can open, worms all over!”

    This movie will…polarize.
Just wait for the mud-slinging. (In the meantime, check out the book reviews on Amazon.)
Seriously; this is absolutely, positively a ‘genre’ movie…and in the same way that ‘The Blind Side’ had its fans as well as its excoriators, ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ will, too. The mess will be…ugly.
(For the record, I enjoyed the book…I respected her journey…and I believe in the things she explores in the tale. But I’m very aware that the very premise of the story will turn off a lot of (ahem, unevolved) people.
    Don’t say you weren’t warned.

P.S. Any trailer than uses music by Florence and the Machine is already in my good books.

  2. While I would consider myself evolved and spiritually aware, I’m not inspired by someone who writes a book about finding herself funded by an advance to…write a book about finding herself. I understand that books get written this way all the time, and the theme will certainly gravitate a lot of female viewers to the film, but some recent revelations about Julia Roberts personality made me less of a fan of her, and I don’t expect any magical revelations in the story either.

And there we have it: the summary of the current online fisticuffs about Ms Gilbert’s journey.

Because, of course, there are rules about personal enlightenment…

…and MY enlightenment will always be more honourable, more grace-filled and out-asana yours.

    LMAO.

(Actually, there’s a nifty, picante black comedy in there somewhere. CALL THE COEN BROTHERS!!!)

    • Of course there are no rules about personal enlightenment. I’m just more drawn to a story of someone who sought out personal enlightenment, or even just a change in their life, found it, and then wrote a book as opposed to a story of someone who says, “you know what would make a good book? If I went on this journey to try and find myself that a book publisher funds, and then I write about it.” It just makes me think, how much is enlightenment and how much is trying to sell a book?

I’m just more intrigued by someone who stumbles into discovery as opposed to plotting it.

I can’t stand her. I won’t see anything she is in.

I thought the movie was inspiring and beautiful, and well written and well acted.
