Bay Talks Transformers 3 – Adds 3 Humans and 1 Ferrari

Michael Bay is gearing up for production on Transformers 3 and has announced that Ken Jeong, Frances McDormand and John Malkovich will be joining the cast.

Parmount issued a press release of Michael Bay updating us on Transformers 3 and a new Autobot to join the ranks:

Transformers 3 has been going very well. We are going to shoot in LA, Chicago, Washington DC, Florida, Texas, Africa, Moscow, and China. On the talent front, we just locked in Frances McDormand and John Malkovich. Both amazing actors I’ve always wanted to work with. We also just got Ken Jeong, he is the super funny actor stuck in the trunk from “Hangover” and the Doctor from “Knocked Up.”

We start shooting pre-shoots in about one month.

I also was at a Ferrari charity event this week raising money for a hospital being built by Ferrari in Haiti. I announced that night the newest Autobot to join Transformers: the Ferrari 458 Italia.

No word on whether these talents will be voicing bots or joining the pointless and secondary human cast, but all three are welcome indeed.

Malkovich and McDormand have worked together most recently on Burn After Reading.

I wonder just what Autobot he would be?

Perhaps Blurr? He was a Ferrari F50 in Transformers Armada, and is typically represented as the fastest Autobot. I wonder if they will get the Micromachines guy to voice him again?

  1. Well, I’m kind of glad that Bay is willing to go a little bit smaller with this one. I loved Revenge of the Fallen, but I think that one was kind of a little bit too much over-the-top. Well, as long as we can get some kick-ass action scenes like in the first two, you won’t hear me complaining.

  2. I read somewhere in Wikipedia that an Aerialbot (an Autobot “fighter jet” faction) named Silverbolt will make an appearance in TF3. That’s a start to make things interesting for part 3. Why do my gut feel tells me that we’ll get the same mindless plot like part 2 for TF3?

    1. The Arielbots were rumoured because there was a toy set with the Arielbots in it branded with the movie logo for Revenge of the Fallen.

At this point nothing is known about the plot so I dont know where you assume it will be the same “mindless plot” for TF3?

  3. Hope TF3 will be with a better storyline than part 2. Part 2 was so cluttered up with so many unrecognizable robots that I cannot distinguish which is which. I was so disappointed that Michael Bay didn’t make Soundwave fight the Autobots mano y mano. He was just floating in space for being a “rogue satellite” . Isn’t Soundwave supposed to fight?

    1. but he doesnt die in the second film, so expect him back in TF3, and maybe he’ll take on a form, cuz i dont think he took one yet, maybe hes a cybertronian satelite, i dont know man but expect him in TF3

  4. Yeah and wasn’t the original Megatron a Pistol?
    that wouldn’t have worked.

I say keep it toned down(if that’s possible) stick with the core players and bring the noise!

the problem I had with part 2 (besides the mom eatin’ hash brownies) was the final battle in the desert. It had like 50 robots that I couldn’t tell who was who and after like 30 minutes of cameras(cool at first) swooping in, out, inside, and over anything and everything the Badass villans (Fallen and Destrucktor were killed off in like 2 minutes. WTF?

(will see part 3 on opening weekend though)

  5. I’m tired of Michael Bay’s over-fascination with GM fancy cars.. Too many Autobot cars already! I want the Dinobots! I want Ultra Magnus! I want Omega Supreme! I want a G1 Soundwave ejecting his minions like Laserbeak! Why can’t you do that, Mr. Bay?

    1. Its not an over-fascination. GM sponsored the film and paid him an awful lot of money to make every single car in the movie a GM product.

And originally the Autobots were ONLY cars. AUTObots. So most of them are cars.

And Soundwave did eject his minion Ravage in TF2. At least he wasn’t a cassette player walkman ejecting bots that transform from tapes!

  6. Maybe John Malkovich could play Dr Octcuvill “not sure how you spell the name but he was a villan in the Gen 1 Transformers cartoon. He worked with Megatron to bring Cybertron to Earth.
I could see Malkovich playing that role.

  7. For the longest time I was hoping that they brought in Shockwave as one of the Main Decepticons in any of the movies!! I was hoping they would finally put him in TF3 but after the news that they are putting less robots in the 3rd movie and cursed to the Heavens!!!

  8. I think John Malkovich and Frances Mcdormand will play human roles in TF3, but not as voice actors. Perhaps Malkovich will play a devious villain allied with the Decepticons.

As for the Ferrari car , I don’t think this 3rd TF movie doesn’t need more cars like it did in TF2. If I were Michael Bay, I’d rather have Ultra Magnus, Omega Supreme and the Dinobots be added to the Autobots’ lineup.

    1. Ultra Magnus is an insecure version of Prime. And I wouldn’t mind Dinobot characters, as long as they still transform into vehicles then to dinos otherwise, I am not interested.

And Bay has already said that he is pulling back on the Bot cast of this film giving fewer more memorable bots instead of just an army of faceless bots no one recalls.

      1. I think the dinobots, and Omega supreme would be cool. But after what they did with Devastator, I don’t think I want to see more giants. Hot Rod and cup would be a good addition to the film. And the Stunticons would be good,if they don’t make them merge.
