Tim Robbins joins Green Lantern

Green Lantern’s supporting cast is shaping up well with Reynolds snogging with Blake Lively, Mark Strong likely playing Sinestro (but Sinestro wont be the villain yet) and Peter Sasgaard playing Dr Hector Hammond.

But now we find out that Tim Robbins has also join the cast.. but as who? Hammond’s dad?

So, that leaves Dr. Hector Hammond, played by Peter Sarsgaard, as the feature villain of the Green Lantern origins movie. We know that Dr. Hector Hammond is “the pathologist son of a senator who is seen as a disappointment in his father’s eyes” and now we know who’s playing the father: Tim Robbins!

Obviously they were not done considering Robbins, as he was originally being considered for the role of Tony Stark’s father in Iron Man – a role that got glossed over as a cover story in the plot.

Now the inevitable dad will be playing a negative influence this time as the villain will be motivated by insecurity created by his judgemental father who he could never impress. He needs a hug.

I always like Tim Robbins in the roles he plays, but he still looks like Bill Gates to me (which made him perfect for the Gates-esque role he played in Antitrust)

I can’t see his role being all that big in the story considering this will be ALL about Hal Jordan, and the villain will be secondary leaving his dad issues tertiary.

Interesting, don’t know if i’m thrilled though- Robbins is one of those actors where unless he’s in the right role, I’m not that big a fan.

It also doesn’t help that the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Tim Robbins is his role as the foreign-food-smelling, girlfriend-stealing neighbour from High Fidelity.

You think of Tim Robbins and you don’t think of The Shawshank Redemption?

      BLASPHEMY! SACRILEGE!

      TIM ROBBINS IS GOD!

      • Brendan says:

I would never dare say he wasn’t good in Shawshank… it’s just in High Fidelity he’s so greasy and….blegch grosses me out, that ‘F—ing Ian guy’ …so creepy.

      • Rodney says:

Sounds like he was very effective at portraying that role then!

        That is a good thing.

      • Brendan says:

Rodney… when did I say he was bad actor??

All I said was that too me if he’s not in the right role I’m not a big fan.. not that I didn’t think he was talented, and not that he didn’t portray those roles well.

I would say only .1% of all actors in the planet could ever pull off EVERY ROLE RIGHT.

Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes are my two “they could do anything” actors.

Rodney-tron and Gypsy are right about him being good in those movies, but you saying hes not right for every role is a little redundant, unless you can say most actors can do most roles.
