At this rate we wont have to wait until Sunday to see all the big studio trailer releases, and now we get our first real look at The Last Airbender as it will be presented this weekend.
Good thing they paid millions of dollars to get that played THAT day and we get to see it online days in advance. But it will be the first time most people see it.
I think it looks great, but I am REALLY disliking this power chord rock soundtrack for fantasy and period peices. So distracting.

Looks cool, and now if only Shyamalan would drop out.
I think he’ll do it right. He really is an amazing director and a dramatic visionary.
He just ran out of actual GOOD orginal ideas these past few years, it happens sometimes. So now he’s doing other peoples story’s insted.
Who knows if he’ll ever get a great original idea for a movie ever again though.
This is the first time he’ll be adapting instead of filming from an original screenplay, so I don’t think it’ll be as bad as some of his other films.
But I have to admit, judging by his last 2 films, he is a douchebag.
I could have judged that from his past 4 films.
Check out at 0:09 in the top left corner. It’s APPA!!!
omg! i saw him!
WHAAAT? Hes in this??? i didnt think theyd have the big furry flying dog in this
he looks like a ripoff from “A Never Ending Story”
Hey nice catch bill! good eye, dude
I saw him too!
It’s amazing how something so small can make people freak out…I love it.
OK..so i was totally against avatar being live-action with there current cast an ultimatley the director (shymalan) who would be sure to make this movie a joke on the level with DB Evolution. The actor for aang is ok, an still very unsure of dev patel being prince zuko even though i’m a fan of the guy. But the trailer manage to come out looking pretty good. Also i didn’t know twighlight’s jasper is the sokka (That shoud be awesome).
Jackson Rathbone’s latest horror movie(Clive Barker’s “Dread” playing at this year’s After Dark Horror Fest) was awesome, and he was awesome, at least I think.
*Rathbone is Twilight’s Jasper.
Never saw the Cartoon, never really cared to see this movie BUT a good teaser can change one’s mind.
will keep an eye out.
Mozart sucks! Rock rules! get over it, the sooner you do, the better your life will be.
Trust me this is the way movies are going to be for a while
a lot of these movies will give in to the power of the melted metal, Rod.
AND WHEN WILL THE IRONMAN 2 ONE BE RELEASED!?
Dude, thats like the ONLY one i care about
What are your favorite bands?
What i meant by that^^^ is that the general audience prefers this over Mozart.
im just trying to say, they will play the music they KNOW will appeal the MOST people. Its kinda obvious.
but for conversations sake:
Rise Against is my all time favorite, Skillet being a close 2nd, Smashing Pumpkins, Journey, Papa Roach, Sum 41, Slipknot, Unearth, Bullet For My Valentine, Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, Pennywise, System of a Down, Evanescence, Coheed And Cambria, Elliot Minor, Green Day, Hoobastank, Rammestein and Ramallah
THREE DAYS GRACE AND EVANESCENCE! I love them, but my favorites are Nirvana, Breaking Benjamin, All That Remains, Killswitch Engage, System of Down, Staind, Flyleaf, and many many more…
I call for themusicblog.com…..
Even if Mozart does suck, wouldn’t his music have been created well after the time period of certain fantasy and period pieces?
yup
its actually funny that some people are getting mad about them playing rock instead of classical music or whatever because a friend of mine actually was telling me how annoying he thought it was that EVERY FUCKIN fantasy movie had classical music in the background. So unoriginal. He makes a good point. Who GIVES a shit if they play rock??!! I mean really. It’s just a TRAILER! And even if it is like that in the movie, so what?!
Think about it. If we go back to “times of old” when people would just tell stories to people wandering by on the road and say they would play some music with the story, they would probably play music that communicated to THAT person in THAT time period. What music is that today? ROCK POP and HIP HOP. I love some pop and I love hip hop but if I were to choose from the three to be played in a movie I am seeing, I would definitely choose ROCK. Get over that classical shit people. If they play classical, cool. If they play rock, its not gonna KILL the movie. I mean lets be realistic.
It doesn’t have to BE Mozart, or even classical music, but to have the RIGHT tone of music for the imagery and era of the film works far better than having some epic medieval battle set to Three Days Grace or Good Charlotte.
Its just as distracting as if everyone in Sparta was saying Dude, or if Oliver Twist was wearing a digital watch.
It doesn’t fit.
The music can even be GOOD music, but if it doesnt fit the era, its not “being original” its being wrong.
Lol Rodney and I were particularly pleased when we found out Good Charlotte and Paramore are doing the soundtrack for the remake of Highlander
Mozart Sucks?
I did not know that…
and I dont believe it either
Im speaking in the general voice of the audience. we dont live back then, so music has changed and the majority of our population would prefer a different type of music.
My personal opinion is completely irrelevant when it comes to the music they chose in the trailers, only what the majority of the viewers say. And the majority would pick rock over classical
agreed. besides, sometimes when they play classical, it feels like they are trying to force you to believe in the fantasy and it comes off just cheesy.
blame it on lord of the Rings I say. That trilogy was so insanely awesome and truly defined fantasy movies for all time. And it also BURIED it. It changed fantasy films from that point on. You can’t do fantasy the same way anymore because lord of the rings did it perfectly. Now when you follow the same formula, you just come off as a LOTR rip off. And once again, you just look CHEESY.
WHAT??? Playing orchestrated scores that fit the time period are trying to FORCE YOU TO BELIEVE IN THE FANTASY????
What the hell is wrong with that? Did you even read what you just typed? Seriously?? Of course I want to believe in the fantasy. Thats the point of watching a fantasy adventure film.
The majority of the audience would NOT perfer to hear era disjointing music set to classical imagery.
Thats like saying that we dont have Kracken or gods today, so we wouldn’t want to see movies about them.
And Lord of the Rings DID do it perfectly, but hardly the first film to set the music appropriate to the era. These examples stand out as the exception to the rule because music SHOULD fit the era and tone of the film, and these do not.
LOL^^
So in a perfect world these epic movies would only use flutes, horns, and harps in their scores?
You think those are the ONLY instruments used to play music of this era?
Fail.
LOL^^ again.
The point was they didn’t have pianos and the majority of the instruments you would hear in a modern day orchestra.
Point is they still manage to write orchestrated pieces that capture the feel and tone of that era with and without pianos.
They cannot do that with hard rock power chords. Ever.
I still have no problem with the hard rock power chords.
But I just saw the Superbowl commercial for Dante’s Inferno, and I can understand how you feel.
I was not looking forward to this movie until I saw this. Please, Shamhammer, please do not fuck this up
Haha, like Clash of the Titans, right?
They just picked that rock track for the Super Bowl audience, who’s more into that sort of thing. Plus it’s a bunch of action clips so it fits better than it would otherwise. But the actual film will have a soundtrack that fits better, I believe.
I’m really beginning to look forward to this. I love the show and was a little bit skeptical, but this looks like it’s shaping up great. All I need is to see the full trailer (which will hopefully have some actual acting on it) to be fully hooked.
Love the footage. But agree about the rock track. Although if you think about it, it does seem to fit with the typical superbowl crowd. How do you make a kids show cool to grown drunk men? POWER CHORDS
I have never known why people seem to think this or that kinda music does not fitt a film or a trailer or a film for that matter.
I mean how does rock being in fantasy or period pieces differ from, say Beethoven playing in Die Hard With a Vengeance.
At least they are being original and not using Lux Aeterna or any of those grand, epic orchestra pieces.
That said, the TV Spot looks friggin awesome!
The bending looks pretty much like the show. And APPA!!! So cool!
aaaahhh no, the fire bender was not creating his own fire. It’s the little things that matter.
A firebender can create fire as well as manipulate fire. The clip doesn’t preclude the ability to create fire. It just shows someone bending already existing fire.
in the new trailer it looks like the fire bender is creating his own fire.
Ya it doesn’t look like a bad trailer. Its just a bit on the short side again. I want to see more of Aang.
It is a TV spot, so its going to be 30 seconds.
Looks just amazing to me. One of my fav teaser trailers in a while now. The effects are something else and it really does look like they’re going all out in that department. How they are using the effects is just wonderful.
I’ve never really watched the cartoon, but can’t wait to see more of this movie.
It’s stuff like this that makes me very hopeful for the future of live action anime movies as well. Like James Cameron’s up coming take on Battle Angel and Spielberg’s production of Ghost in the Shell.
I know Avatar isn’t really an anime, but the characters and their respective powers are certainly on that level visually. As showcased in this awesome teaser.
The show’s creators took a lot of inspiration from Eastern mythology and anime; Miyazaki’s works and such. It really does show in parts but they still put their own style to it and made it unique.
I agree, the effects look incredible so far, even with such relatively small-scale moves/bending. ILM has done it again, looks like.
Yeah rock chord guitar soundtrack flattens any film’s sense of seriousness and pulls it down to teenie-flick level.
In all fairness this is a movie aimed at teens and children, a teenie- flick if you will.
I saw the cartoons of the movie and I love it.
My kids love it so much and they replayed it over and over. I am dying to see this movie. I hope it wouldn’t be disappointing.
I hope it would be as great as the animated movie.
I agree, I can’t stand the rock music playing to these fantasy/historical films. It’s so obnoxious.
This video sealed the deal for me. I didn’t want to see the Anime come to life but M Night did a good job with this. Looking forward to it a lot!
It’s not an anime.
I think the movie will be great but it all depends on the plot development, like how do they fit like a whole season into 2hrs.
(the choice for the fire prince is just awful IMO)
Not that hard. There are lots of filler episodes. All they need are the basics. I’m not looking for a direct conversion, I’m looking for a movie that’s BASED on the series, not a scene-by-scene remake.
Anime or Magna….can someone explain the difference without getting pissed off?
cause some of them look like they could be directly related to Speed Racer…
Anime is an animated show or movie, Manga is comic.
I saw the cartoon a while back and as for a whole season fitting in 2 hours, should not be so hard to pull off. The series had lots of filler episodes.
But never mind that, at some point a fan will notice something like a character is wearing black shoes instead of blue ones, or something like that. And then there will be a mighty uproar in the fan community, and how Shamalyan is raping their ever so fond memories of a series that should have been shot frame by frame true to the original series, and as an HBO miniseries.
Just saw the theatrical trailer and DAMN, it looks amazing, IMO.
i am not going to get into an arguments here on anything..i have a bad habit of it. but i do have one question..does anyone at all have any idea who this song is by? and what the song is called?
