Shawn Levy talks Hardy Men

I grew up on this side of the Hardy Boy craze. The books were already old when I learned to read, but they were around and I still felt the impact of those novels.

Well Tropic Thunder director Shawn Levy tells Collier that they are trying to make a comdey called Hardy Men, that will be a grown up comedy version of the teen super slueths:

Produced by Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy, the film focuses on the grown up Hardy Boys, as the title leads one to believe. But as it’s a comedy, the two sibling sleuths no longer get along as well as they used to. Hilarity ensues. However, getting the film off the ground seems to be proving a bit difficult as reported to Starpulse by Levy.

“Developing a movie for a movie star is hard,” Levy said. “Developing a movie for two movie stars is a very, very challenging enterprise. The bull’s eye is small and the tone has to be exactly right. So we are still working on it.”

Ever since Ben Stiller did that Mission Impossible spoof for the MTV Movie Awards I thought these two could pass as brothers.

And years later it’s happening. Or is trying to happen. They are working hard to bring this together and eventually I hope it does.

Tom has come around from that stink of Crazy that got him a bad rap, now he is doing other stuff that make us love Tom again.

Uhh Rodney, wasn’t Tropic Thunder directed by Ben Stiller? ;)

I don’t know much about Hardy Boys but this sounds really fun.

Love him [Tom] again. Not me. I wished he and his crazy “cult” would just go away…

Except that Levy stole the idea for the Hardy Men from a couple of crew members he worked with up in Canada. Be nice if he actually would admit it, but then he’d lose some of his payday to do this to give to the unfortunate people he stole the idea from.
